POWRi SWLS Championship Goes to Grant Sexton, Chiaramonte Claims Rookie Honors

Belleville, IL. (12/22/2021) Finishing off their second season of intense sanctioned competition, the Lucas Oil POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprints would contend for eleven feature events with seven different drivers checking into victory lanes throughout the racing season. Capturing the championship after a year-long quest of driving conquests, Grant Sexton would earn the title with consistency and a league-leading feature win-count.

Racing out of Lakeside, California, Grant Sexton in his #3 Sexton Gatlin Racing, BK Wings, Sexton Fire Protection, XXX Chassis, Kawasaki Racing Engine entry would capture four feature wins on the season within the series. Notching a feature win in the 2021 POWRi MKLS Summer Shoot-Out Night One event at Norman County Fairground would see the seventeen-year-old driver secure his eighth career wins to lead the overall Southwest Lightning Sprint series while also moving Grant into the tenth spot on the POWRi all-time career win count.

Consistency would be the key to Grant Sexton’s championship success in 2021 as the title chase would find a new face in the Lucas Oil Southwest Lightning Sprints quickly establish his racing career with Sexton earning the honors by a mere one-hundred-twenty-two point advantage over series Rookie of the Year Braden Chiaramonte.

Rising through the racing ranks at a rapid pace would witness Braden Chiaramonte, from El Cajon, California, pilot his AIM, Silent, Off-Road Warehouse, AM Ortega Contracting, Hyper Chassis, Suzuki Racing Engine #73 hotrod to a 2021 POWRi MKLS Summer Shoot-Out Night 4 Feature Win as well as claiming the 2021 POWRi MKLS Summer Shoot-Out outright Championship. At only fourteen years of age, Chiaramonte would claim one series victory in the final series event of 2021, proving the future looks bright with Braden behind the wheel.
