Strunk Shines on Night #2 of the Powri Lightning Wing Nationals

With a moody Mother Nature looming Lake Ozark Speedway would go above and beyond to see the field of 37 Powri Lightning Wing National take to the track and prove themselves with blistering lap times and side by side racing action. Even after an extended intermission due to irregular rain showers drivers from eleven states and Canada would wage racing war through four Heat’s, three Qualifiers, and a pair of B-Features to set the 24 car field for 25 trips around “The Lake”.

Night number one’s winner Grant Sexton #3 would continue his surge of success claiming the night’s high point qualifier award earning the feature’s pole starting position. Grabbing the lead early, Sexton would guard the top spot to perfection until a late race caution would group the field back up. Sexton would just slip slightly in turns one and two which would be enough for Brad Strunk #23s to grab the advantage down the back straight away to take over the lead for the final three laps earning the big pay day.

Sexton would impress all placing second. Eric Sundborg #16 would roll off in the seventh starting position, hanging around in that spot most of the feature until late race dramatics would help him move into a third place finishing position. After the heartbreak of the previous night, Chris Crowder #26 would rebound in excellence driving his way to finish fourth. Tomy Moreau #22 would start fifteenth would run out of laps on his quest to the front and would round out the top five.

Heat race winners were Francis Laliberte’ #427, Alex Truscinski #10, Dean Parker #99, and Jason Woods #82. Drivers winning the qualifiers were Brad Strunk #23s, Presley Truedson #2k, and Bobby Lane #01. B-Fearture winners included Jeffrey Weare #88 and Kevin Douglas #5k. Hard charger was Josiah King #13j, racing his way through the b-feature starting twenty-second passing fifteen other competitors to place seventh.

Special thanks again to Lake Ozark Speedway for hosting the Powri Lightning Sprint Nationals as we hope event continues to grow over the upcoming years. Thanks again to all the drivers who made this premier event
