Sivia 2020 IRA wingLESS Champion

IRA's AutoMeter Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Series once again proved itself to provide the highest member supported car count per event of any sprint series in the country. Over 70 series specific teams participated, with average car counts in the mid to high 30's as twin B-mains were needed on multiple nights. Eighteen point races were contested (plus two non-point events), and despite Covid, twenty-two teams made themselves point fund eligible based on participation requirements. Nine different teams won feature events with only four visiting victory lane more than once. The Wilmot Raceway has been the home since series its inception in 2015, though the series raced at five other venues too, including the Jackson (MN) Motorplex, Beaver Dam Raceway, 141 Speedway, Plymouth Dirt Track, and Dodge County Fairgrounds. The growth of the group coincides with the tremendous overall quality of the competing cars, and the significant rise in driving talent throughout the field. While a headliner generally at Wilmot, the series played a support role with the World of Outlaws on three occasions, the IRA Outlaw Sprints eight times, and the All Star Circuit of Champions once, not to mention co-headlining with the Dirt King Late Models twice. It's been an amazing ride these first six years for this series and the future looks even brighter. Jimmy Sivia added his name as an IRA series champion this year, edging Wilmot track champion Chris Klemko by a mere three points. The group recognizes an overall champion, as well as a Wilmot Raceway champ. Multiple feature winners included Ryan Zielski, Greg Olsen, Derek Crane, and Davey Ray, while Sivia, Klemko, Tim Cox, Nathan Crane, and Jimmy Kouba all claimed solo wins. The top ten in points were Sivia, Klemko, Allen Hafford, Ryan Marshall (R), D. Crane, Jordan Paulsen, Cox, Vince Bartolotta, N. Crane, and Natalie Klemko. Jimmy Sivia joins Doug Schenck, Todd Lehr, Jordan Mattson, Tim Cox, and Chris Dodd as AutoMeter Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Series champions. The series is overwhelming based on the GM604 crate engine for power. Special thanks to title sponsor AutoMeter, and presenting sponsors Gandrud Chevrolet Performance Products and Brewington Electric, and a big thank you to Hepfner Race Products (HRP) for the cool winner medallions, plus thanks to several other numerous series supporters led by Hoosier Tire, Behling Race Equipment, R&H Enterprises, Lane Automotive/Allstar Performance, and many others.
