Wisconsin wingLESS Sprints
Raidart Claims First Win
Zach Raidart started on the pole of the twenty lap A main and he used that prime starting spot to take the early lead holding onto that lead for the entire twenty laps in route to the win. In what has become something of a theme for the Wisconsin wingLESS series. This was Raidart's first career win in the wingLESS car, making him the third driver this year to earn his first victory. Jimmy Sivia brought his orange and purple 91 home in second followed by Allen Hafford and Chris Dodd. Ryan Zielski would round out the top five.
32 teams signed in for action to compete on a beautiful June night at Wilmot Raceway. Qualifying saw Tim Cox set quick time in the Meyer Valves and Vacs car, in front of a huge crowd of supporters from Meyer. Points leader Chris Dodd would time in second followed by Allen Hafford and Jimmy Sivia. Zach Raidart rounded out the top five in his 23Z.
Heat race one saw an exciting battle for the win as Nick Petska took the early lead but Zach Raidart quickly moved into second and quickly was on Petska's rear bumper. Petska was able to hold off the hard charging Gurnee, Illinois native to take the win. Raidart settled for second followed by Chris Klemko and Jordan Paulson. Tom Eller behind the wheel of the 29OG took the fifth and final transfer position.
Heat race two was claimed by Brian Kristan who lead all eight laps in his 4TJ car. Behind Kristan the fans saw an incredible battle as Derek Crane held second and ran perfect laps around the bottom of the speedway while Chris Dodd looked for a way past Crane but couldn’t seem to find a way past. As the field took the white flag Chris Dodd threw his Hopf Farms 01 car in on the high side of 1 and 2 and gained ground on Crane. As they entered 3 and 4 Dodd once again went to the top and at the line Dodd was second over Crane by .03 seconds. Doug Schenck was fourth and Greg Olson fifth.
Shawn Swim led heat race three early over Ryan Zielski. Zielski appeared to be faster but Swim had the preferred line keeping Zielski at bay. In the closing laps Swim would drift off the bottom allowing Zielski the opportunity he needed to drive by. Zielski would take the win followed by Hafford who was also able to sneak past Swim. Swim settled for third over Johnny Fahl and Charles Spoonmore.
The fourth and final heat race saw Jimmy Sivia drive from the fourth place starting position into the lead, and eventually claim the checkered flag. James Walldan and Randy Stanford would finish second and third respectively followed by Paul Shaffer and Greg Alt.
The B main would set the final four spots of the A, and saw Tim Cox, trying to rebound from heat race issues lead all twelve laps enroute to an A main bid. Behind Cox, Mitchell Davis, making his first wingLESS start of the year drove into the second spot followed by Craig Campton. George Gaertner would nab the fourth and final transfer spot.
