Ohio Sprint Car Series Continues Work Toward Purse and Points Fund in 2019

Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (July 3, 2018) – Although the 2018 racing season has just reached the halfway point, the Ohio Sprint Car Series is already making plans for 2019 with a great point fund, strong nightly purse and incentives for race teams.

OSCS President Steven Pocock has been contacting teams and marketing partners alike preparing for next year.

“So far I’ve gotten great response from race teams in the Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania area who are excited for the vision we have of a working man’s series that doesn’t involve a lot of travel and puts some funds back into their pockets,” he said.

Pocock’s plans are for a standard OSCS purse to award $3,000 to the feature winner and $400 to start with all non-transfer cars out of the B Main earning $150. There is also a purse structure for “special” events that pays $5,000 to the feature winner and $1,000 to the 11th-place finisher.

There will also be tow money for the top five in points and each new 2019 OSCS team will receive two free pit passes per event. The weekly members can also receive bonuses of $100 for fast time and $50 for the feature’s hard charger with the addition of “pop-up” bonuses throughout the season.

Pocock has a tentative point fund of $23,500 for 2019, awarding the champion $7,500 and paying the top 10 in points. If a title sponsor is brought on board, the point fund would increase to $32,500 and award the champion $10,000.

“The $23,500 point fund is based off of sanctioning fees so any race dates that get cancelled and not made up means the point fund could be pro-rated and adjusted,” Pocock said. “We are working hard to bring on marketing partners that believe in our vision of strengthening and growing sprint car racing in the Ohio and Western Pennsylvania region, giving the weekly racer a chance to maybe see new tracks and compete for good purses and a good point fund. We need the tracks and race teams to help if they want this to grow. We all need to work together to accomplish these goals. I want the OSCS to be a partner with the tracks and to take care of the race teams.”

The OSCS is also working with Hoosier Tire on saving series members some money.

“Any teams that run 90 percent or more of the OSCS races will receive tires at my cost when they order,” Pocock noted.

The next OSCS event is July 21 at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio.
