Inside Line Promotions – ATTICA, Ohio (May 23, 2018) – It’s been a tough start to the season for Chris Andrews and the Burmeister Racing team as engine problems last Friday at Attica Raceway Park sidelined the team for the second straight week.

“A couple of weeks ago we had a loose fuel nozzle and that may have led to Friday’s problem,” Andrews said. “It looks like we burnt another piston. This is the third engine rebuild already this year and hopefully we have the situation remedied and can get the gorilla off our back this weekend.”

Andrews said the team will put the mechanical woes behind them and focus on a big weekend of racing. It begins this Friday at Attica Raceway Park with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. Andrews is the defending track champion and he currently ranks eighth in the championship standings.

“The last time the All Stars were at Attica we made great strides on the setup, but unfortunately engine problems hit us again,” he said. “We made the feature, but couldn’t start. The key is qualifying and getting through the heat.”

On Saturday Andrews will try to make up valuable points in the chase for the All Pro Aluminum Heads FAST 410 Championship Series presented by Ohio Logistics title at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio. Andrews scored a runner-up finish at Fremont Speedway during the track’s opening night and he currently ranks fourth in the standings. Andrews is fifth in series points and has scored a pair of top-five finishes in the four FAST events in 2018.

“That opening night they moved the starting times way up because of the cold and the track was slick and we were really good,” he said. “We have struggled with slick tracks in the past so I’m very excited to see what we can do at Fremont. It pays $5,000 to win so that should draw some pretty good cars. Again, we need to get qualified well. We have a fast time at Fremont this year.”

Andrews said the Burmeister team plans to travel to Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, on Sunday to compete with the All Stars during the inaugural Bob Hampshire Classic.

“I love that track,” he said. “It’s fast and action-packed and should draw a huge car count. Besides qualifying you have to keep your nose clean in the heat and feature.

“Because of the engine issues and rainouts we don’t have a lot of time on the track to figure out setups, but Mikey (Sommers, the crew chief) and the guys know what to adjust. Everyone on the team is committed to turning this thing around. We’ve all talked about what we need to do and now we just have to roll up our sleeves and focus.”
