Nationals, Doubles, and First Timers
Jack Dover recorded one of the most prestigious wins of his career last weekend at Jackson Motorplex where he nearly swept the 360ci winged sprint car portion of the 39th annual AGCO Jackson Nationals. Dover claimed the opening night, finished second on Night 2 and dominated the finale to capture the crown. "Every time I go on the track I have a car capable of winning," he said. "Any time you can win a race that says Nationals at the end of it you know it's a pretty awesome race, we were one lap shy of winning all three nights. Any weekend you can almost clean sweep the weekend it's pretty amazing."
Jordan Poirier earned ESS career win #1 Sunday night at Cornwall Motor Speedway. Leading all 25 laps to cap off a three race weekend. Jordan took the lead at the drop of the green flag and masterfully maneuvered his EAGLE to the checkers. “We as a team just didn’t give up, went to work and I has such a good car tonight.” Seven-time Champion, Steve Poirier, Jordan’s uncle, finished second giving EAGLE a 1-2 finish. “I normally don’t like to finish second but on this night to see Jordan win makes it a cool night for all of us.”
Jordan is no stranger to the winners circle. This young talent has many wins with the Quebec Mini-Sprint Series driving his HENCHCRAFT and continues to do so while acclimating to the larger sprint car. Some fellow HENCHCRAFT pilots that also finished on top of the box this weekend included Kobe Allison at Waynesfield Raceway Park. The AMSA Mini Sprints started 23 drivers in the A-main. Lima Ohio’s Allison made a run for the lead and after a few laps of work, Allison took the lead and controlled the field to win the race. Kobe also won the heat race sweeping the night and retaining the track points lead.
Tyson Cross went side by side for nearly 20 laps to determine the winner in the Lighting Sprint division at Deming Speedway. Lap five through twenty five was a dog fight until Cross, who had only been behind by mere hundredths of a second, finally crossed the transponder loop first. The night belonged to Cross who collected his first win of the year in his HENCHCRAFT.
The California Lightning Sprints continue a strong season with the latest stop at Ventura Raceway. With an ocean side view, Alec Bender proved best on the night with two HENCHCRAFTS on the podium. In a night packed with emotion the #29 car graced victory lane in a tribute to a late member of the team.
HENCHCRAFT made all the news at Greenbush Race Park. Fifteen cars would take the green for the Lightning Sprint feature at and it would be fifteen year old pole sitter Presley Truedson of Kennedy, MN grabbing the early lead. The young lady would hold the point position through two early cautions and lead all 15 laps to pick up her first Lightning Sprint feature of the year. Presley also turned the fastest lap of the night in her heat race at a time of 12.807 for a speed of 70.3 mph, Alex Truscinski holds the current track record at 12.582. Hard charger for the night was fellow HENCHCRAFT driver Brendan Mullen.
Rich Wood invaded Accord Speedway driving his #83 HENCHCRAFT and bested a full field of Empire Lightning Sprints to win the feature event.
Andrew Scheid drove his HENCHCRAFT to victory at Merritt Speedway over the weekend. The Lake City, MI facility continues to be a target for Scheid to flex his muscle.
Southern Illinois Raceway carried over their Memorial Day remembrances and STALLARD driver Zach Hubbard will be remembered as a winner. The A class driver held the checkers in EMi victory lane with a proud crew.
The Jayhusker’s concluded their second event scheduled at Washington Speedway, an 1/8 mile oval located on the Washington County Fairgrounds in Washington, Kansas. Jake Galusha emerged the victor driving his STALLARD SST. Earning both heat wins, Jake used the momentum to earn his first win of the season.
Frank Galusha had an amazing weekend sweeping both events at KAM Raceway and Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex. Starting 7th at KAM Frank made quick work of the field to steer his SST to the lead. The following night was quite exciting coming from 19th on the initial start to win the event. Frank had high remarks for the tracks, his crew, and the fabrication team at EMi for their dedication to providing the highest quality products. We would be remiss if we didn’t return the thank you for his masterful driving and being a great ambassador for the sport of micro racing.
