Galusha Prepares For 2016 Campaign

LINCOLN, Neb. – With just over a month until his first scheduled race of the season, Frank Galusha is preparing for a massive 2016 season, hoping to improve further on his already-impressive list of accomplishments. Coming off a top-ten finish at the Tulsa Shootout in January, as well as last year’s 11 victories and 22 top-five finishes, the 27-year-old currently plans nearly 60 race nights over the course of the outdoor season.
Galusha will kick off the campaign at Atchison County Raceway in Atchison, Kansas, for the track’s popular “Spring Fling” event on April 1-2. With the next weekend off, the Lincoln, Neb. native plans to venture to Sweet Springs (Mo.) Motorsports Complex’s first two events of the year on April 16 and 23.
To close out April, Galusha’s home track, KAM Raceway in Hastings, Neb., will get loud on Friday nights. He’ll compete there in the first six point races of the season, and also attend multiple Jayhusker Racing and Iowa Micro Sprint Series during that time; Galusha will tackle the “Roy Cooley Memorial” at Jefferson County Speedway in Fairbury, Neb., as well as two events at Stuart (Iowa) Speedway and one at Little Sunset Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. in May.
The first full week of June, Galusha makes his first trip east with the EMi No. 12 Yoshimura Suzuki-powered Stallard Chassis. Five events in five days make up the POWRi “Illinois SPEED Week,” beginning at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville on Wednesday, June 8, then continuing to Quincy Raceways, Jacksonville Speedway, Macon Speedway, and closing out on Sunday, June 12 at Lincoln Speedway. One weekend later, the standout remains in the state of Illinois, but further south; Southern Illinois Raceway in Marion hosts the “Highbanks Hustle” for two nights of action with $7,500 on the line for the June 18 main event winner. Following that event, he returns home to Nebraska for events at KAM and Jefferson County before capping the weekend in Stuart, Iowa.
On July 1, Little Sunset is on tap before heading to Sweet Springs for the following night, to prepare for the upcoming weekend’s John Hinck Memorial there, which pays a cool $5,000 to the winner. Two weekly races at KAM, two Jayhusker races at Jefferson County and Washington (Kan.) Speedway, and an IMSS event at Stuart bridge the gap to Galusha’s second trip to the Land of Lincoln. Southern Illinois Raceway’s “Terry Sprague Memorial” nonwing event has become one of the more prestigious races on the micro sprint circuit, and pays $5,000 to win on July 30.
August brings five more races to Galusha’s schedule, with three at KAM and one apiece at Stuart and Jefferson County. The pace picks back up in September, beginning with a two-day Jayhusker event at Washington. In the middle of the month, Galusha makes his longest trip of the season for the biggest payout of the season; I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark. hosts the three-day “600 World Championships” on September 15-17. The event returns after a five-year hiatus, now with a winner’s purse increased to $10,000. Sweet Springs’ regular season finale doubleheader weekend is then on tap for September 23-24.
Three, three-day special events will round out the year for the seasoned veteran Galusha. English Creek Speedway in Knoxville, Iowa hosts the 4th Annual “Micro Short Track Nationals” September 29-October 1, and Galusha hopes to repeat his 2015 triumph in the $5,000 main event. Then comes Sweet Springs’ “Show-Me Showdown.” Four times a podium finisher at the prominent race, he has been held without a victory, but he looks to change that October 6-8. One week later, Galusha closes his season at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Okla. in the 3rd Annual “Port City Outlaw Nationals.” Though the winner’s check has decreased from $12,000 to $8,000, the overall event payout has increased throughout the field, but Galusha will attempt to earn the victory on October 15, with preliminary action the two nights prior.
