Mitchell Faccinto Dominates Round #5 Of Speedweek Northwest In Yreka

Yreka, California- Speedweek Northwest resumed racing on Friday, July 8th after taking a day off to rest, recover, and travel. Siskiyou Motor Speedway would be the site of the fifth race of the 2016 schedule. Despite some showers and a few other delays, the show would be completed in its whole entirety. Seventeen entries would inhabit the pit area with drivers from California, Oregon, and Washington as well as the Southland region of New Zealand.
A few stoppages in the first few laps got things off to a slow start but ultimately Mitchell Faccinto would get to the front and lead the field. Faccinto, from Hanford and driving for Stan Greenberg, would set a rapid pace and managed to effectively maneuver around lapped traffic on the long green flag runs. A lap seventeen caution would bunch everyone up one final time but Faccinto would master the restart. Mitchell Faccinto would become the fourth different winner in five races in this year’s Speedweek and earned his first career Speedweek victory.
Puyallup, Washington native Trey Starks, in the Doug and Kathy Rutz entry, was second followed by Chico’s Jonathan Allard, running for car owner Rod Fauver, in third. The balance of the top five would consist of Steven Tiner, from Visalia, in fourth and fifth finishing Kyle Hirst in the Scott and Jason Finley owned machine.
Trey Starks would set quick time during qualifications. Heat races were won by Jonathan Allard and Albany, Oregon teenager Bricen James in the Tim Galloway fielded car.
