The Western Sprint Tour would visit Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, California on Friday August 14th for the Siskiyou Golden Fair Race presented by Wonderland Distributing. The event would mark the first of two nights of the 2015 Ore-Cal Challenge. Fourteen cars would sign in on the sheets representing the states of California, Oregon, and Washington.

Penngrove teenager Michael Kofoid would set the early pace in his LaChance Kofoid Enterprises/DES Inc./Red Line Oil/Dr. Ramos Dentistry #11K Maxim in the Sousa Ready Mix Shootout feature. Kofoid would keep back all advances from challengers until lap six when Kyle Hirst would make the decisive move. Hirst, now residing in Chico and piloting the Finley Farms/CLT Logging/Rider Racing Engines #77 Maxim for car owners Scott and Jason Finley, would begin to take off before several cautions would occur keeping the field bunched up close.

On each ensuing restart Hirst would take right off from the cars behind him to reconstruct his massive lead. He would master traffic each time he approached it but as the race continued some other drivers would step up to the plate to try and overtake him. The most notable contender was Trey Starks of Puyallup, Washington. Starks would mount a massive late race charge and actually caught Hirst but would bang the cushion extremely hard exiting turn four with just a few laps to go resulting in him losing lots of ground.

The mishap would allow Kyle Hirst to have the luxury of nearly half a lap separating himself from second. Hirst would stay in the position for the remainder of the race to win his first career Western Sprint Tour victory and the third occasion he has done so at the Siskiyou Golden Fair Race.

Trey Starks would hold on to second place in his Starks Timber Processing/Southland Equipment Limited/MASCO Petroleum/T&C Concepts #55 J&J followed by the All Star Powdercoating/Corban Learning Center #21 KPC of Colby Wiesz, from Colfax, in third. Completing the top five finishers were fourth placed driver Jared Ridge of Snohomish, Washington, in his Ridge Runner Wings/Snohomish Auto Parts/Racers For Christ/Rodgers Racing Engines #12 entry, and the Jacob Daniels Attorney at Law/Oregon State Representative Cedric Ross Hayden/M.D. Yearous Logging/Devine Continuous Gutters #5D KPC of Cottage Grove, Oregon's Patrick Dills.

Kyle Hirst was fast time of the night while Michael Kofoid was the winner of the Coors Light Trophy Dash. The victors of the two Les Schwab Tires Heat Races included Hirst and Patrick Dills.

The Western Sprint Tour will visit Southern Oregon Speedway on Saturday August 15th for the second and final leg of the Ore-Cal Challenge. It will be Kids Night at SOS and all kids ages TWELVE AND UNDER get in for FREE. For the latest news and information regarding the WST log on to sprints.nwextremeseries.com.
