Cottage Grove, Oregon- In just a few days the Western Sprint Tour will be hosting the first two races in their history at Cottage Grove Speedway. On Friday April 24th and Saturday the 25th the clay will fly and the engines will roar at the historical 1/4-mile clay oval. And to begin his Northwest title defense Colin Baker will look to have the same success he had last year.
“Nowadays in the Northwest you're lucky enough just to drive for someone, let alone win a championship,” commented Baker, “I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to drive for the Thistle family and pursue another title this year.”
Baker, who is from Cottage Grove and is the defending 360 Sprint champion at the facility, changed rides over the 2014-15 offseason. He now sits in the cockpit of the Jesse and Jessica Thistle owned Steelhouse Metal Roofing Supply/Cobalt Computer Services/RCV Custom Coach Service/William & Mathis Accounting/BC Motorsports/Commonwealth Financial Network/All Around Printing #4 XXX machine. They have competed in a handful events this year already including the Cottage Grove Season Opener as well as the Silver Cup in Chico, California.
“The first couple of races we've been plagued by mechanical gremlins but that's apart of racing,” he would continue, “we'll recover from it and get a handle on it. We'll come back swinging for the first two races of the WST at Cottage Grove”
Colin Baker will be up against the best drivers in Pacific Northwest region. 360 Sprint pilots from Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia will invade CGS for two nights of breathtaking action. Be sure and don't miss a lap of the action.
Admission prices for the WST events on Friday and Saturday are Adults $15.00, Juniors/Seniors/Military $13.00, Youths (Ages 6-12) $8.00, and Children 5 & Under FREE. Both nights the Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Qualifying 5:30, and Racing begins right around 6:45.
Support classes for the Friday night program will be Late Models and Street Stocks while Saturday will feature IMCA Modifieds and the Quality RV Repair Hornets. For the latest news and information regarding the Western Sprint Tour log on to sprints.nwextremeseries.com.
