Midwest Sprint Touring Series

Registration open, important updates set for 2024 MSTS season

When sprint cars take to the track in May to kick off the 2024 season with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series, it will start the biggest season yet for the series that dates back to 2015. This year, MSTS will bring both 410 and 360 sprint car racing to tracks and fans across the region.

With the start of the season approaching, important details are set for the Midwest Sprint Touring Series.

The newly formed 410 series – known at the ACS Roofing, Westover Masonry Midwest 410 Sprint Touring Series powered by Cressman Sanitation will hold its inaugural event at Dakota State Fair Speedway on Saturday, May 11.

On that night, MSTS 410 drivers will be eligible for a long list of valuable contingency awards that will be up for grabs at all MSTS 410 events on the year. Every eligible heat race winner will receive $100 from GRP Motorsports. The Cressman Sanitation Hard Charger in the main event grabs another $100 and the A+ Towing Hard Luck award recipient receives $100.

This will be the first visit to the Huron, South Dakota, track for MSTS. The event, presented by West-Way Trailers, Under the Sun Rental and Dr. Robert Hohm will also feature WISSOTA street stocks, Midwest modifieds and super stocks.

The Gunderson Racing Midwest 360 Sprint Touring Series powered by Cressman Sanitation is set to start the 2024 season the following week – May 18 – at the Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, Nebraska (the date is subject to approval from co-sanction series Malvern Bank 360s).

For 2024 contingencies with MSTS 360, the Cressman Sanitation Hard Charger receives $100 with the A+ Towing Hard Luck award also work $100. New this season, the top three in every heat race will receive a certificate from Gunderson Racing Inc. for a value of up to $100.

To be eligible for contingency awards and point fund awards, drivers must register for an MSTS Membership. Memberships are $100 per series or $150 to cover both series. Fees will be collected by MSTS officials at events while the paperwork portion is available now at the following link: https://www.myracepass.com/series/1356/registrations/

FORMATS:

For 2024, formats will remain as they have with MSTS. The most common format is the standard draw/redraw format utilizing passing and finishing points. Drivers in the top eight will make the main event redraw and the balance of the field will line up based on those points.

A time trial format will be used at speedways with specific formats, specifically Jackson Motorplex and Huset’s Speedway.

RULES:

At this time, minimal or no changes are expected in 360 rules. The 410 series will follow Huset’s rules. This will include the need for a fire suppression system that meets the SFI 17.3 specifications as required by Huset’s and the World of Outlaws.

ADDITIONAL EVENTS:

We plan to announce more events in the coming weeks, specifically for MSTS 410. We are currently working through specifics on a 2-3 day race weekend.

POINTS FUND:

We anticipate the points fund for MSTS 360 to be very similar to recent years. Cody Ledger recently received $6,500 for his MSTS 360 championship in 2023. The MSTS 410 points fund will be similar in structure and payout, with increases available based on event totals. Again, a membership is required to be eligible for a points fund payout.

We could not offer such substantial awards and points funds without the great sponsors of MSTS, many of which have been with the series since the inception in 2015.
