I-90 Speedway, MSTS, MPS adjust this weekend’s banquet

In a year that has forced businesses, families and schools to call constant audibles, officials with I-90 Speedway, Property Solutions of America Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Midwest Power Series have been forced to make a significant change with this banquet scheduled for this coming Saturday.

Instead of a traditional banquet, doors will be open at the Humboldt Community Center from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 14. During that time, teams and drivers are welcome to stop in at their convenience to pick up their hardware from the 2020 season. There will be no formal awards presentation at that time. Tickets for the banquet will be refunded in full.

Those looking to socialize, celebrate and bench race are welcome to do so at the community center or the nearby Humboldt Bar.

“Everything has been weird this year, so I guess its fitting that the banquet is too,” said Lyle Howey III, track owner and promoter at I-90 Speedway. “I feel that making this change is the right thing to do. We have members of our staff who are currently facing quarantine, and so it is clear that we must prioritize safety for all of our teams, staff members and sponsors.”

While awards will be picked up this Saturday, I-90 Speedway will publicly crown the season champions and special award winners, such as rookies of the year, at the beginning of the 2021 season.

“We really wanted to get everyone together to thank them for a great 2020 racing season,” added Dale Furby, president of MSTS and pit steward of I-90 Speedway. “We had fantastic racing all year long at I-90 and across the region with MSTS. That’s not possible without the support of so many teams, sponsors, drivers, tracks and fans. We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2021.”

I-90 Speedway congratulates the following champions:
· Trefer Waller – Cressman Sanitation IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars
· Zach Olivier – T&R Contracting Late Model Street Stocks
· Tyler Myers – Great Western Bank USRA B-Modifieds
· Dustin Gulbrandson – Lawn & Snow Company USRA Hobby Stocks

In addition, MSTS congratulates Eric Lutz on his 2020 championship – becoming the first ever repeat champion since the inaugural season of 2015, in which Lutz was also the champion.

Midwest Power Series congratulates champion Justin Henderson on his title with the tour. Midwest Power Series will hold its season celebration at a future date.
