Inside Line Promotions – SPRINGFIELD, Neb. (Oct. 30, 2019) – The 2019 campaign was another typical standout season for Jack Dover, who added another championship and nine more feature victories to his impressive racing résumé.
Dover’s nine wins continue his streak of posting at least eight triumphs each season for the last dozen years. His winning percentage was also a staggering 23 percent. Dover captured 20 top fives, giving him a top-five finish in more than half of his starts, and he finished with 28 top 10s to make it nearly 72 percent of his races resulting in a top-10 outing.
“Nothing ever meets my expectations unless I won everything, which isn’t possible,” he said. “Looking back on it, it was a good year. The DNFs we had were from trying to win races. It wasn’t the year I wanted as far as wins, but we were competitive and up front most of the time.”
Dover led the Midwest Sprint Touring Series with seven victories, 14 top fives and 16 top 10s in 18 races to earn his first career championship with the series.
“We were consistent everywhere we went,” he said. “I think we were on top of our game this year. It’s always awesome when you can win something different. Midway through the season we saw we had a chance at winning two championships and that was our goal because I’ve never done that. We came up a little short for the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints championship, but it was awesome to win the MSTS championship.”
Dover led the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints with three wins, but a crash during the final race of the season dropped him to second in the championship standings – keeping him from winning his fourth series title in the last five years by a mere 29 points.
“I’m not one of those people that drags stuff on,” he said. “Once it’s over I’m looking at the next thing. Jason Martin was on top of his game. To race against guys like that, it makes me better and the championship battle worthwhile. Congrats to him and his team.”
Dover also finished tied for second in the championship standings at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn.
“We learned a lot this year,” he said. “I felt like this year I’ve learned the most out of all the years. I’m really, really excited to go into next year. The season just ended and normally I’m ready for the break, but I’m already looking forward to next year.
“We want to thank all of our sponsors for their help. We’ve had a lot of long-term partners that have helped Jack Dover Racing grow each year and we’re grateful for their support. Also, thanks to everyone who gave me a ride and helped crew. I’m fortunate to have support from so many great people.”
