Nick Deal snares Malvern Bank SLMRS checkers at Off-Road Speedway

By Ben Shelton (Walnut, IA) -- Nick Deal mounted a mid-race charge to the lead on Saturday night at Nebraska’s Off-Road Speedway to claim his fourth victory of 2019 in his Nebraska-Iowa Supply Company No. 55D Monster Graphix/ Black Diamond Race Car/ Shepherd Engine Development Late Model.

The fourth visit of the year to the winner’s circle was worth $2,000 and came with the Malvern Bank Super Late Model Racing Series (SLMRS).

“It wasn’t the best start to the night for our team, and honestly even the beginning of the feature wasn’t that great. However, as the race went along our car kept getting better and better and we got to the front,” Deal commented. “We’re learning something new every time that we hit the track with the Late Model. Overall though, I couldn’t be more proud of how our team has performed in its first year in the division.”

After a pair of rainouts, Nick Deal was finally able to return to competition the Malvern Bank Super Late Model Series to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska) on Friday evening. In a field of 39 cars, Deal registered the fastest lap overall in time trials before posting an 8-lap heat race victory. Starting the $4,000-to-win feature in the second position, Nick battled at the front of the pack throughout the 40 lapper before ultimately recording a runner-up finish behind Tyler Bruening with Bill Leighton, Tad Pospisil, and Ben Schaller rounding out the Top-5.

The following night at Off Road Speedway (Norfolk, Nebraska), Nick recorded a third-place finish in his heat race, which positioned him sixth on the starting grid for the A-Main.

He progressively worked his way forward in the field to take the lead. Holding off a late-race charge from third-starting Ben Schaller, Deal streaked to his fourth win of the season in the 25-lap feature. He was followed across the stripe by Schaller, Andrew Kosiski, Gary Brown Jr., and Bill Leighton. He earned a $2,000 payday for his triumph.

With his weekend performances Nick has taken over the lead in both the Malvern Bank SLMRS Rookie of the Year battle and the overall standings.
