Mars Racing Series Announces Sunoco Rookie of the Year Program for 2022
(March 21, 2022) LaSalle, IL – The officials of the Mars Racing Series are excited to announce the Rookie of the Year Program for the 2022 season. Our friends from Sunoco Race Fuels have stepped up to partner during the 23rd season of the Mars Racing Series to award the top finishing rookies in the season ending point standings. The top two rookies in the season ending standings will get a bonus for their efforts.
The top finishing rookie will receive a $2,500 payday at the end of the season. The second highest finishing rookie will receive a $1,500 bonus for his efforts. Both top rookies will also receive some product perks from our friends at Sunoco Race Fuels.
But the rewards don’t stop there as Dyer’s Top Rods has stepped up to the plate and will give an additional $500 towards a new set of rods to the top finishing rookie at the end of the season.
Series owner Tony Izzo Jr. states “We wanted to do something this year for up and comers in the region, a chance for the less experienced racers to have more of a reason to follow the Mars Series. I enjoy being able to put together something to give back and help more racers who are maybe just starting out. We are excited to add Sunoco to the Mars Racing Series family in 2022.
“The Midwest is full of guys who are just getting started in their late model careers, this program supported from our friends at Sunoco gives the local guy that might be on the fence about joining a tour more of an incentive to make that leap. It’s going to be fun to watch the battle for Rookie of the Year develop over the season. said Series Director, Tyson Graves.
A questionnaire is available at the Mars Racing Series website. Drivers interested in competing for the 2022 Rookie of the Year will have to be complete this form to be considered and accepted for the Sunoco Rookie program. Rookie drivers are also eligible to take-home year-end point fund money if they commit to running the complete schedule this year. (Rookie Registration Form)
