2022 Thaw Brawl to be Richest in History
(February 21, 2021) LaSalle, IL – The officials of the Mars Racing Series are excited to announce that the 2022 Thaw Brawl will be the richest in the events history. The event previously held since its inception at LaSalle Speedway will move to Davenport Speedway in 2022 to kick off the Mars Racing Series season. The two-day show will be presented by Hoker Trucking out of Dixon, IA. Hoker is no stranger to the Thawl Brawl event and Davenport Speedway. The trucking company owned and operated by Jeff Hoker helped supported the Thaw Brawl in years past and sponsored the Mars sanctioned event last July that was voted the 2021 Race of the Year by Dirt on Dirt.
There will be a full program on preliminary night Friday March 25th that will feature a $10,000 to win feature. On Saturday, March 26th the weekend will come to an end with another full program that will showcase a big $20,000 to win payday.
Tony Izzo Jr and team are excited to be able to put this deal together to kick off the upcoming Mars Racing Series season. “When I bought the series a few years ago I had the vision in mind to help bring higher paying races to the Midwest, the deal we have put together for this year’s Thaw Brawl is a huge deal for us as a series.� series owner Tony Izzo Jr states. “It’s always great to work with the Kay family and Davenport Speedway, then you add in the fine folks at Hoker Trucking and everything just aligned to make this event even bigger.�
Series Director, Tyson Graves says, “I am excited to see the Thaw Brawl grow even bigger this year, it has been an early year staple to the Midwest. With a possibility of $30,000 total on the line I would think we should draw a great field of cars and fill the stands with fans.�
The event will also be shown LIVE on FloRacing, the official streaming partner of the Mars Racing Series in 2022. The series is grateful to have them on board for the year to expand the fan base and exposure to other areas in the country.
The support classes for both nights will be the IMCA Modifieds and Sport Mods. The Outlaw Street Stocks will join us on Saturday night. General admission prices for Friday night will be $30 for adults, 5-12 $5 and Under 5 Free. On Saturday night general admission will be $35 for adults, 5-12 $5 and Under 5 Free. Pit Passes will be $40 for each night, Kids 12 and under will be $20 for pit entry.
The weekend will include a practice on Thursday night from 6:30 to 9:00pm. Friday and Saturday pit gates will open at 3pm, main grandstands at 5pm. Hot laps both nights are slated for 6:30pm with qualifying and racing action to follow. For those individuals wanting to camp you need to contact the fairgrounds at 563-326-5338 for information.
