Statement Regarding ASCS and the Electric City Speedway

TULSA, Okla. (August 17, 2016) To set the record straight, the American Sprint Car Series did not cancel any sanction with the Electric City Speedway.

A post was made to the Electric City Speedway’s Facebook page on Monday, August 15 at 12:48 P.M. (CDT) which read, “Ascs Racing has cancelled our sanction for the remainder of the 2016 season........BUT we are still racing Sprint Cars on August 19 and 20. See you at the track.” The post was tagged to a page that is not affiliated with the American Sprint Car Series.

This statement was false as no representatives of the American Sprint Car Series had been in contact with the owner of the Electric City Speedway, Dan Mann, or any other track officials regarding any sanctions being cancelled.

On Tuesday, August 16, the office of the American Sprint Car Series was made aware that Dan Mann was not going to allow a driver of the ASCS Frontier Region to compete at the Electric City Speedway. Again, at this time, there had been no contact between Dan Mann and the American Sprint Car Series regarding their sanction.

A call was made to Dan Mann at 9:27 P.M. (CDT) on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 and was in regards to the driver and why they were not allowed to compete. The call was not to take away, or remove any sanction.

The decision to remove the ASCS sanction was made by Dan Mann before every conferring with the American Sprint Car Series. However, the American Sprint Car Series will honor his wishes as we believe that his actions leading up to this statement, as well as actions towards the driver in question are discriminatory in nature as the reasoning is based on personal bias and has nothing to do with racing at the Electric City Speedway, or with the American Sprint Car Series.

The American Sprint Car Series is actively searching for replacement dates. We apologize to the fans and teams who have been affected by these events which were beyond our control, but have managed to further harm Sprint Car racing. Any updates on the 2016 schedule will be posted to http://www.ascsracing.com.
