Eagle Raceway Eagle, Nebraska (September 8, 2019)—In what was supposed to be a “weekend of fun and racing,” last night’s Casey’s General Store’s Midwest Fall Brawl at I-80 Speedway succumbed to mother nature as the racing was about to begin. But tonight we moved 7 miles to the south as the series returned to the world’s fastest 1/3 mile track east of Lincoln, Nebraska, Eagle Raceway, for the first time in 5 years. In 2014, it was Brain Brown who held off Jack Dover for the win as Dover went on to win the championship that year. This year, the weather turned out to be beautiful as 19 cars checked into the pits and the track surface was fast and smooth.
Tyler Drueke led most of the laps as he went on to take the win after a hard charging, Jack Dover, made a mistake sliding Drueke for the lead in turn 4. Dover blew a tire, driving down the front stretch, and slammed hard into the turn one pit entry tire. This was Drueke’s second win on the season, with the series in seven starts. “Craig allowed me to drive this car, this week, and we put the seat in the car and it sucks we got rained out last night. He’s got a rocket ship here and I want to thank him and his crew, Robbie, Alex, Jay, Mike and everyone who helps him out. USA Performance, Maxim Chassis, and everyone he’s got behind him. It was a good night! I don’t know if there will be anymore 360 shows this year as you will have to ask him and we’ll see.”
The front row cars of Saldana Racing Products pole winner, Don Droud Jr. and Adam Gullion led the field to the green flag. Tyler Drueke, from third, was able to get by Gullion on lap one. Jack Dover, starting 8th, had already made his way to third by lap 2 as Drueke took the lead from Droud. Tyler Drueke began to pull away from Droud, by lap 5, as lapped traffic came into play on lap 6. Dover made his way around Droud on lap 7 and the hunt for Drueke was on by the points leader. Drueke kept a half a straightway lead over Dover as Dover weaved in and out of traffic on lap 10. The top 5 halfway through were Drueke, Dover, Martin, Droud, and Joey Danley. With 10 to go, Drueke maintained about a full straightway lead over Dover as the bottom half of the track began to slick off. Dover was beginning to cut down the distance between Drueke, by lap 5, as 6 lapped cars held Drueke up. Dover tried a slide job on Drueke in turn 4 but clipped the wall and blew the right rear tire. He then couldn’t get the car off the wall going in to turn 1, hitting the pit entry tire, rolling the car, and bringing out the red. Jack was ok. The top 5 were Tyler Drueke, Jack Dover, Jason Martin, Don Droud Jr, and Joey Danley.
On the restart, Drueke rocketed out to a big lead as Jason Martin tried to grab some distance on him but it wasn’t enough. Tyler Drueke takes the win followed by Jason Martin, Don Droud Jr, Joey Danley and Trevor Grossenbacher.
