Clauson-Marshall Racing Continues USAC National Midget Campaign with Kokomo Grand Prix Doubleheader This Weekend!

Fishers, IN | April 13, 2018 - Three weeks and several cancellations later, the Clauson-Marshall Racing group finally returns to racing action tonight as round two of the USAC National Midget Championship fires off at the always-exciting Kokomo Speedway. A doubleheader set for tonight and tomorrow, the "Kokomo Grand Prix" will see the usual trio of Tyler Courtney, Justin Grant and Zeb Wise contend under the CMR banner. Tonight's event will mark the first USAC National Midget event at the Kokomo, Indiana facility since Shane Golobic won the 2017 Indiana Midget Week title aboard his CMR/Matt Wood Racing, Elk Grove Ford No. 17W last June.

Entering tonight's race as the runner-up in the early point standings, Angola, Indiana's Zeb Wise will be one to watch as he makes his first-ever attempt at Kokomo Speedway under the USAC sanction. Competing in several local events at the 1/4 mile oval in 2017, Wise proved that he was up for the task in taking on Indiana's baddest bullring as he pieced together multiple strong runs. Now, coming off a third-place finish at the "Shamrock Classic" in Du Quoin, Illinois, the 15-year old enters Kokomo tonight with a prime opportunity to continue his excellent start to 2018 and potentially grab his first-career USAC National Midget triumph aboard his Priority Aviation No. 39BC.

A quicktime qualifier at this race last year, Justin Grant enters the "Kokomo Grand Prix" as a noted veteran and experienced gasser at the Kokomo Speedway. In three USAC Midget attempts at the track in 2017, "JG" recorded finishes of fourth and sixth outside of a sole DNF. Sitting fourth in points at the moment, the Ione, California native will continue to pursue his first-career USAC National Championship in the NOS Energy Drink No. 17BC.

Rounding out the trio of wheelmen, Indianapolis, Indiana's Tyler Courtney will look to rebound from an unlucky go at Du Quoin last month which left him out of the feature. The reigning "Kokomo Smackdown" champion, Sunshine has seen plenty of success at the track and will hope to continue that trend this weekend while turning around his Midget season. Outside of his one DNF, Courtney recorded back-to-back third-place finishes in his three attempts in a midget at Kokomo in 2017. With two USAC National Sprint Car victories under his belt with the Clauson-Marshall-Newman team, Courtney will now chase win #1 of the year in his Driven 2 Save Lives, Indiana Donor Network No. 7BC.

Scheduled for racing on Friday and Saturday, April 13th and 14th, the Clauson-Marshall Racing team will tackle the "Kokomo Grand Prix" at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana with the USAC National Midget Series. You can watch a live broadcast of the event at www.speedshifttv.com or follow along via the CMR social media sites.

CLAUSON-MARSHALL RACING:
Race on. A saying that Bryan Clauson always related to his father Tim when our sport faced its darkest moments. It's what racers do, we continue to race on. Following Bryan's tragic passing in August of 2016, Tim Clauson and Richard Marshall never wavered when they formed Clauson-Marshall Racing. After unveiling a dream team at the 2017 Chili Bowl, CMR shifted focus to USAC. With a trio of Tyler Courtney, Justin Grant and Zeb Wise competing on the national level, the outstanding group will be chasing their first title together in season two. After a successful freshman campaign, the team will also be expanding to sprint cars in 2018 as Ryan Newman joined in an ownership role to form Clauson-Marshall-Newman Racing. CMNR will tackle the 2018 USAC National Sprint Car slate with Tyler Courtney behind the wheel.
