Jim Perricone
Perricone finishes up 2018 with the World of Outlaws
2018 has been a tough year for Jim Perricone and the JBMotorsports 10P Sprint car team. Jim started out the year with news he had Non hodgkin's lymphoma cancer. Cancer, a very scary word and something that turns your world upside down. The teams plan for a strong 410 outing in 2018 was suddenly not as important. Jim battled through 6 rounds of chemotherapy. In between treatment Jim made some races in the spring up until June. Being sick, Jim just didn't feel well in the car and decided to park it until his health got better. In July Jim was given a clear health checkup by MD Anderson in Houston. Jim started working out and getting back in shape.
With everything looking up the team focused on running Be 4 The Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway with the World of Outlaws. Jim turned in a solid time trial and was within range of the top drivers. However, in heat race action Carson Macedo got sideways in turn 1 and both drivers jumped on the brakes to not collide. Carson would finish 9th and Jim 10th. Jim would start the C Main and put down some good laps. The positive taken from the race, was Jim was healthy and feeling sharp in the car and the car had speed and was competitive.
The team moved the next night too Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA. This was the Commonwealth Clash with the World of Outlaws. Again early on Jim felt comfortable and fast in the car. It was a strong showing in the B Main that had the team pumped up. Jim started 13th and moved all the way up to 8th before fading a few spots and finishing 11th.
Overall, it was a test and tune weekend to see how Jim being healthy again could handle the physical aspect of racing the car. Crew Chief Bob Thompson has the car ready and hooked up and is looking forward to what the team can do in 2019.
We pray for Jim's health to continue to get better and look forward to 2019 with many more races on the schedule with the World of Outlaws. We thank our Sponsors and fans for being there in supporting us at every turn.
