Zach Daum Eyeing the History Books

Belleville, IL. (09/30/2020) Zach Daum, the Pocahontas, IL. native has been a part of the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League for quite some time now. Daum is looking to become the first four-time champion in POWRi National Midget League history. Scoring titles in 2013, 2014 and 2016, Daum is currently tied with Brad Loyet of Sunset Hills, Missouri, who guided his Loyet Motorsports No. 05 to POWRi National Midget championships in 2007, 2010 and 2011.

Daum proved his talents early on and became the 2007 POWRi Midget Rookie of the Year. His first career victory came to him in early 2012, which intimately led him to a ton of success. He gained his first championship in 2013 backed by a six-win season and was followed by a second-straight title in 2014. He returned to the top of the standings in 2016 with his third-career championship, matching Loyet for the most in POWRi National Midget League history.

In 2019 Daum went full force with POWRi and conquered the largest schedule in the 15-year history of POWRi. From Oklahoma and Illinois to Wisconsin and New Mexico and few and far in between, Daum was up for the tough task of going head-to-head against the likes of Keith Kunz Motorsports, Dave Mac Motorsports, Steve Reynolds Racing, Jim Neuman Racing, a handful of other stout teams. Daum fell 350 points short of breaking the record books and adding a fourth championship to his belt.

Daum is on the road to a record-setting fourth championship season again this year. He sits back only 500 points from the leader, Jake Neuman. On the year, Daum has one win which came to him at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, MO. Daum also has also scored five top five finishes and ten top ten. This weekend, October 2&3 Daum will conquer the two day show for the Gold Crown Nationals at Tri-City Speedway.
