POWRi INTRODUCES BRIAN WALKER AS DIRECTOR OF MEDIA RELATIONS

BELLEVILLE, ILL. (May 14, 2019) – Ushering in a new era of online presence, the Performance Open Wheel Racing, Inc. group is proud to introduce Brian Walker as the Director of Media Relations at POWRi Racing. From press releases to social media and so much more, Walker will handle the content management for POWRi leagues nationwide, with a vision of expanding the brand into the digital age and beyond.

“Having Brian on board will help our brand tremendously in giving fans, sponsors, and racers a reliable system in staying updated with our organization,” said POWRi President, Kenny Brown. “We’ve been working together for a few months now and after he blew the Internet away with his coverage down in Oklahoma, there was no doubt we needed him here at POWRi.”

Covering the sport since he was 15, Walker brings a unique edge with his social media coverage. For years, he updated races on Twitter under the “Walkapedia” banner and in 2018, he joined the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League as Content Manager. He’ll remain invested in the entire WAR Sprints program while assuming his new role with all of POWRi Racing.

“Kenny and I have been talking about this for some time, so I am excited to get this deal done and go full speed ahead with tackling the 2019 season,” said Walker, the newly-pointed Director of Media Relations. “We have already started moving in the right direction the past month or so, but there is still a lot of renovations and improvements to be made. I have a lot of plans and new ideas that I am looking forward to unveiling as POWRi pushes into the future."

As for racing, the POWRi Engler Machine & Tool Outlaw Micro League takes centerstage this weekend with the "Southern Illinois Shootout" at Belle-Clair Speedway on Friday, May 17 and Southern Illinois Raceway on Saturday, May 18. As for the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League, their 2019 season resumes with a Memorial Day weekend tripleheader at Sweet Springs Raceway on Friday and Saturday, May 24-25 and Lake Ozark Speedway on Sunday, May 26.
