Schuett grabs second top ten finish in his third 2015 start

Dupo, IL (April 13, 2015) After having two successful nights in Port City Raceway opening weekend, one may have wondered how young Kyle Schuett would do when he returned to action at the POWRi home track, Belle-Clair Speedway. Little Belleville is the sight of Kyle’s biggest micro sprint feature win and the team entered with high hopes of midget success on the 1/5 mile bullring. Twenty nine of the best Lucas Oil POWRi midgets showed up to do tackle the “Battle at Belle-Vegas I” on a chilly Illinois night. At the end of the night, once again Kyle would show that he is a serious rookie of the year contender.

A good pill draw put Kyle starting on the outside front row of heat race number one. The starting position may have been the only good thing about being in this stacked heat race which included two former POWRi champions, three more seasoned veterans, and another rookie of the year contender. Kyle raced hard, but found himself losing spots and he finished the heat race in fifth. Based on passing points, this put Kyle starting outside the second row of the B-feature event, with six of the 13 cars transferring on to the A-main. Kyle put on a great show and at the end of the 12 lap event, he crossed the stripe in second and transferred on to the night’s 30 lap A-main.

While the racing in the A-main ended up being fantastic, as it usually is in Belleville, getting the event started proved to be a tough task for the 22 car field. On the initial green flag attempt, one car in the middle of the pack spun and collected four more cars, one of which was Kyle’s 9K car. Luckily, Kyle escaped with only front bumper damage and was able to continue on. There were then two more attempts to get the feature started and finally it was a go. From his 18th place starting position, Kyle worked his way through caution flags, a red flag, and through traffic to finish the night with a ninth place finish. This was his second top ten finish in as many starts and so far he is the leading contender for the 2015 Lucas Oil Rookie of the Year award.

Kyle and his Schuett Racing, Inc. team will now have a weekend off before heading to the Mighty Macon Speedway on April 24th and Jacksonville Speedway on April 25th. This weekend will kick off some very busy months for Kyle as POWRi gets in the stride of its season. With the results of the last two races, Kyle would like to thank all the guys at the Boss Chassis/KBR Performance shop for all their hard work week in and week out. The Esslinger powered Boss Chassis felt great Friday night and Kyle’s words when he got out of the car after the feature were, “Man, running the top is fun.” Look for young Schuett to put his 9K on the cushion more and more as he continues to get comfortable; and look for the 9K to continue being a front running car.

Schuett Racing, Inc. would like to thank everyone for their support this season, including its fans, friends, and sponsors. Great sponsors like these people and businesses are what makes weekends like this past one possible. Thank you Illiana Insurance Agency, Progressive Propane, Bergfield Farms, KBR Performance, Rod End Supply, FK Indy, Hoosier Tire Midwest, AMSOIL by Roger Clapp, Steve Thomas Racing, Bell Racing, ButlerBuilt Professional Seat Systems, BOSS Chassis, R & B Powdercoating, J & K Rentals, and Keizer Wheels.
