Inside Line Promotions – PENNGROVE, Calif. (June 10, 2020) – Chase Johnson is venturing east next week to tackle Indiana Midget Week and other marquee national midget events.
Johnson will drive for car owner Tom Malloy during the six straight USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series races followed by back-to-back weekends with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League.
Indiana Midget Week starts on June 16 at Paragon Speedway in Paragon, Ind. Gas City I-69 Speedway in Gas City, Ind., hosts a show the next night followed by a doubleheader at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind., on June 19-20. Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind., features a race on June 21 with the Indiana Midget Week finale set for June 22 at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Ind.
“Making all the A Mains is one of the biggest goals I have,” Johnson said. “It is Indiana Midget Week so it’s an endurance race at some point. You have to make sure you take care of your equipment so you can make all the nights. I think with the speed we showed last year when we ran the national races with Tom Malloy we did have good speed so I think we can look forward to some good things.”
Johnson will follow Indiana Midget Week with visits to Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, Ind., on June 26; Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., on June 27; and Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., on July 3-4 for the Pepsi Nationals.
Johnson, who last raced a midget during this year’s Chili Bowl Nationals, participated in a few Indiana Midget Week shows in 2016. He’s been to Gas City I-69 Speedway, Lincoln Park Speedway and Kokomo Speedway during his career. Everywhere else will be his debut.
“I feel like this is my first Indiana Midget Week and to do this with Tom Malloy is great,” he said. “I know it’s the right people and the right stuff. I’m looking forward to having the right opportunity.”
Johnson, who has only competed in one race since early March, will pilot his 360ci winged sprint car this Saturday at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, Calif., before traveling east.
