Dupo, IL (May 8, 2018) The Schuett Racing team headed west to Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland this past weekend with the POWRi National Midget League for the Open Wheel Showdown. This weekend’s events have become one of the staples on the POWRi midget schedule, and Kyle made his return to the weekend after sitting out last year due to school conflicts. Nearly 40 cars signed in each night, and Kyle drove the Schuett Racing #9K to the A-main for both events.

Friday night began with Kyle making a fourth to second-place run in heat race action. This put him 11th in overall passing points and locked him into the 30-lap A-main. Starting 11th, Kyle and his team wanted to try some changes on their Bullet by Spike Chassis, not knowing exactly how they would affect the car’s handling. Unfortunately for Kyle, the changes weren’t what he hoped for and he slipped back to an 18th place finish. While not the results they strived for, they were able to learn from the setup adjustments they made and will be able to use this information as the season moves along.

Saturday’s event was hosted by one of the nicest racing facilities in the country – the Lucas Oil Speedway in rural Wheatland, Missouri. On this night, Kyle would draw the pole starting position in one of the four POWRi heat races. Falling back to a third-place finish, Kyle would rank 16th in overall passing points and again locked into the 30-lap A-main event. In A-main action, Kyle held his position for most of the race and ended the night and the weekend with a 15th place finish.

Kyle is continuing to learn about his new Bullet by Spike Chassis and getting more and more comfortable each night out. He and his team are continuing to work hard in the shop and are looking forward to getting back to tracks in Illinois that Kyle has a lot of laps on. Up next for Kyle and the Schuett team is a two-day weekend, with Friday, May 11th at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois and a visit to the Mighty Macon Speedway in Macon on Saturday the 12th. Kyle has a lot of experience at both these tracks and he and the team are excited to return to the track this weekend.

As they always do, Kyle and the Schuett Racing team would like to thank all the team’s sponsors and partners that make racing possible.
