Dupo, IL (May 16, 2017) It’s been a little while since Kyle Schuett and the Schuett Racing team have raced inside the Illinois borders, but this past weekend they returned to two of the tracks that Kyle has a lot of laps at. The weekend kicked off with the POWRi National Midget League’s first visit of the season to Jacksonville Speedway, the site of Kyle’s career best POWRi finish in 2015. Following Friday’s events, the team followed the series to the Mighty Macon Speedway in nearby Macon, Illinois. While the results still aren’t what Kyle is looking for, the team made progress all weekend long and is working hard to get the Health Alliance/Progressive Propane sponsored #9K back at the front of the field.
On Friday night, the team headed to Jacksonville Speedway, one of the most popular tracks on the POWRi schedule. Based on his pill draw, Kyle lined up third in the first midget heat race. After getting caught up in an incident with no place to go, Kyle fell back to a sixth-place finish, sending him to the B-main event. Based on passing points, Kyle lined up seventh, with the top six finishers transferring to the 30-lap A-main. Racing hard, Kyle moved forward to a fourth-place finish and a transfer spot on to the main event. Starting 20th, Kyle had his work cut out for him, but was able to move forward to a 15th place finish for the night.
Saturday night brought the POWRi midgets to the Mighty Macon Speedway for their first visit of the season. In heat race action, Kyle started on the pole of the fourth heat, but fell back to a fourth-place finish and once again sending him to the B-main. Again working hard, Kyle finished fourth and transferred to the 30-lap A-feature. In A-main action, Kyle had some great laps and was able to move even farther forward to a 12th place finish for the evening.
Up next for Schuett Racing will be a visit to Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Illinois on Friday, May 19th and then the Fayette County Raceway on Saturday the 20th. As Kyle has recently became a college graduate from Eastern Illinois University, the team hopes to be able to increase its race schedule in the next few months. Having more time available and being able to spend more time in the shop, Kyle is looking forward to keeping the Schuett Racing #9K on the racetrack and moving toward the front of the pack.
Kyle and the entire Schuett Racing team would like to thank the sponsors that make all of this possible. Without the support of these great businesses, the Schuett Racing team couldn’t do everything it has been able to do.
