Schuett adds two more top ten finishes to 2015 season

Dupo, IL (September 12, 2015) As the 2015 POWRi season winds down, this is the part of the schedule where long time traditions and memorial races add special meaning to each weekends’ events. This weekend featured two races that have been run together since long before Kyle Schuett was ever born. On Friday night, the POWRi midgets headed to Jacksonville Speedway for the Herb Barlow Memorial and followed up on Saturday with the long standing Knowles Memorial at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Illinois. Two great race tracks and two great races as we head into the final month of the racing season.

On Friday night, the Schuett Racing ?#?9K? unloaded at Jacksonville looking to get back to the results that Kyle had during the POWRi Speedweek race back in June when he parked his Esslinger powered Boss Chassis on the frontstretch with a third place finish. Twenty three POWRi midgets were in attendance and as a result of a high pill draw, Kyle was scheduled to start seventh in heat race number two. Because of a lineup change, Kyle started sixth and finished sixth in heat race action. Based on passing points, he then lined up 15th for the 30-lap A-main event. After getting caught a lap down, Kyle was able to hold on, move forward, and end the night with a ninth place feature finish. While it wasn’t the night Kyle was hoping for, he still was able to improve from his starting position and come home with another top ten finish.
Saturday night, the Schuett Racing team loaded up and headed north to Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Illinois. One of the longest standing races on the POWRi schedule, the Knowles Memorial always brings out great midget racing on the high banked 3/8 mile oval. In heat race action, Kyle started fifth and finished fifth. Again based on passing points, Kyle lined up 14th in the 30-lap A-main. Once again, Kyle was able to move forward throughout the feature and again ended the night with another ninth place finish. With this being Kyle’s first visit to Spoon River Speedway in his Boss Chassis, a solid top ten finish was a great way to wrap up the weekend.

Two races and two more top ten finishes will help Kyle maintain his lead in POWRi Rookie of the Year points. Coming into this weekend, Kyle sat fourth in the POWRi driver’s point standings; 420 points behind fellow competitor Austin Brown and 330 points ahead of Spencer Bayston. With his two ninth place finishes, Kyle will maintain his fourth position and will continue leading the 2015 rookie charge. There are six more races on the 2015 schedule, with the next one being Saturday, September 26th at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana. This will be the second visit of the season for the POWRi midgets and the second for Schuett Racing as well. Back on August 1st, Kyle picked up a sixth place finish during the first visit.
