Trenca Ties Career-Best Result at Land of Legends With Fourth-Place Run During Season Opener

Inside Line Promotions – CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (June 25, 2020) – Joe Trenca earned a fourth-place finish during his season opener a week ago Wednesday at Land of Legends Raceway.

The Mucci Motorsports driver, whose season had been delayed approximately two months because of COVID-19, was efficient during the Patriot Sprint Tour event. He maneuvered from fourth to second place in a heat race to garner the outside front row starting position in the A Main.

“We were good in the heat race,” he said. “We had some brake issues early in the night and we were fighting that until the feature, but we got it fixed. We were trying something all night and didn’t adjust to what we needed to do for the feature. The track got real slick and real wide. I was too loose and couldn’t keep speed through the corners like the other guys.

“It was a really good race. I’d lose a spot on a restart and then in traffic I’d get it back. At one point we fell to sixth and got back to fourth. The restarts were tough because the bottom was the preferred line and we’d get hung on the top. Restarts didn’t help us until the last one when we snuck by two guys to come home fourth.”

Trenca’s fourth-place outing tied his career-best result at the track.

“Any time you go backwards it’s not good, but we didn’t tear anything up and learned what we wanted to about what we changed over the winter,” he said. “That’s always a plus to learn and see how it reacts. I think we know what to do going forward. We’ll move on to the next one, whenever the next one is.

“I want to thank Mike Emhof Motorsports and the Patriot Sprint Tour along with Land of Legends Raceway for putting on a show for us and letting us finally get out to race even with no fans. I know that’s tough to do, but I appreciate their effort.”
