Trenca Takes Top 10s at Black Rock and Canandaigua

Inside Line Promotions – CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Aug. 10, 2015) – Joe Trenca powered to a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend.

Trenca kicked off the weekend on Friday by making his sprint car debut at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, N.Y., where he finished sixth during a Patriot Sprint Tour heat race. That lined the Mucci Motorsports team up on the inside of the ninth row for the 25-lap feature.

“The track conditions were a little tough,” he said. “The track is wide, but the groove was narrow to pass. It was one groove and was a tough track to race hard. I made a couple of bold moves around the top and bottom. I was all over the place trying to pick up positions. We got up to 10th, which wasn’t bad at all. We needed a late caution to get a couple more spots.”

Trenca made a last-lap pass to secure his sixth top 10 of the season.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Canandaigua Motorsports Park with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints. Trenca maneuvered from eighth to fourth place during a heat race, which locked him into the 10th starting position for the 25-lap main event.

“We were real good early, but the car just petered out toward the end,” he said. “We passed a few cars and got passed back by them. I made a mistake or two that cost us a spot.”

Trenca finished with a 10th-place result, which marked his third top 10 in the last six races.

“We were happy with a couple of top 10s for the weekend,” he said. “We’re making some good strides on slick tracks and I’m excited to continue to progress.”

Trenca returns to action this Friday at Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, N.Y., and Sunday at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y., with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints.
