Bradwell With Last Lap Pass for Granite City Win
Kevin Bradwell got by Rob Caho, Jr. coming off of turn four on the final lap to earn a thrilling victory in the TSCS feature race on August 5 at the Granite City Speedway. A total of 12 non-winged sprints were on hand for their first-ever appearance at the track. The TSCS feature ran 20 laps nonstop to the finish with all cars finishing the race. Fifth place finisher Johnny Parsons III was DQed after the race for failing to go to the scale.
The race saw Travis Jehlicka lead the opening two laps before Caho drove around him for the top spot. Caho encountered lapped traffic with about five laps remaining and was held up some, as Bradwell closed in on the leader. Coming off of turn four on the final lap, Bradwell ducked to the inside of Caho and narrowly won a drag race to the checkers with the final margin of victory maybe a couple of feet to post a thrilling win that had the crowd buzzing afterwards.
Jeff Pellersels finished third after getting by Jehlicka on lap 8 and held the position to the finish. After suffering some left front damage in his heat race following contact with an infield tractor tire, Lucas Milz made a fine charge forward from his 11th starting position to finish fourth at the checkers. Jehlicka moved up one spot due to the DQ of Parsons to round out the top five on what turned out to be a beautiful evening for racing. The TSCS sprints next race is this Friday night August 10th at the St. Croix Valley Raceway in conjunction with the UMSS winged 360 sprints.
