WSS - Wingless Sprint Series

He Came, He Saw, He Conquered. Margeson Wins In First Career WSS Main Event.

After a exciting Saturday Main event which saw a first time winner of the series, we headed back the next day after losing a couple drivers and gaining 1. To make it 18 cars in attendance for the 40 lap Sunday finale.
Jonathan Jorgenson started the day incredibly hot, after fighting mechanical issues on day 1 early, he was looking for a strong rebound. He would win the day 2 King of the Harbor knockout qualifying after winning the finale over the one new driver in attendance, Evan Margeson.
Jorgenson would jump from last to first in heat 1 for the win showing and proving the 2J would be one to beat tonight.
Fellow king of the Harbor finalist, Margeson would match that incredible feat in heat 2 going from worst to first to keep pace in points heading into the dash redraw.
Looking to continue his strong weekend performance after a top 5 on night 1. Mitch Hoffses would be victorious in heat 3.
Joining the 3 heat race winners in the all important dash would be; the night 1 winner Chad Lindsey, his father and multiple WSS champion Rob Lindsey, current rookie of the year leader Kinzer Cox, Arizona’s Shawn Rice, and the highly accomplished Tim Alberding.
Margeson would draw the 3 pill but would set a frantic pace, making his way to the lead on his way to earning the evenings all important pole position after collecting the checkereds first in Dash action.
Margeson had the setup set on kill, however his only mistake of the night would push him back to starting the race in 3rd, and making WSS career win number 1 just a little harder. Early in the main, the bottom was the place to be with only a couple drivers venturing up high. Night 1 winner Chad Lindsey would take advantage of the mistake and track conditions to take a early lead. As the race progressed more drivers would venture up top trying to clean off the top groove. Most notably of those such drivers was Arizona’s Shawn Rice. He was determined to make it work and it was coming in as he started moving forward. Unfortunately for him a caution would fly around mid way, and the secret was out. Pit guys all trying to notify their drivers by the fence of that new found groove, and at the drop of the green for the final restart it was a all new race. Margeson who was 2nd prior went up top to lead the charge, and pulled up beside leader Chad Lindsey. The 2 would battle for a handful of laps but the top side would prevail, and the new leader would set a unbelievable pace marching through lap traffic. Evan Margeson would be unchallenged late, holding on to win his first career WSS main event in his first attempt. Kinzer Cox would rebound from Saturday’s DNF, to bring home his car in 2nd place. Rob Lindsey would finish 3rd, making him the only driver leaving Elma with 2 podiums. Chad Lindsey would try his hardest to make the bottom work until it was just too much moving up late and holding onto a 4th place finish. Mitchell Hoffses would match Saturdays finish with another 5th place finish for the Sunday finale.
Up next for the WSS after a weekend off will be 3 straight weekends of racing starting June 12 back at Grays Harbor, June 19 at the Cottage Grove Speedway, and for the first time in 2 years June 26 at Sunset Speedway park.
