(CANANDAIGUA, NY) – The A-Verdi Storage Containers CRSA Sprints, powered by Super Gen Products kicked off in a big way at Paul Cole’s Land of Legends Raceway on May 13. The series would see a repeat winner but one who had never written his own chapter in the Canandaigua clay history books.
Hannibal, NY’s Jordan Hutton had to figure that drawing the eleven pill for the redraw was going to be a hard one to come back from. After all, he was racing at Land of Legends Raceway with Bobby Parrow and Darryl Ruggles all starting up front- a tall task to overcome.
Hutton methodically carved his way through traffic in the first of a three-race Challenge Series presented by DisBatch Brewing Company. The aforementioned Parrow and Ruggles tussled for the top spot while young guns Kyle Pierce, Dalton Herrick and Thomas Radivoy made their presence felt in a big way.
The game changing yellow flag of the race came past halfway when Ethan Gray did a 360 in Turn 4 just as the leaders were approaching at speed. Pierce locked up the binders on the No. 9k but avoided what would have been heavy contact.
The restart was just what Hutton needed as he was able to power by both Radivoy and Pierce for the lead in a fan-thrilling three-wide move off the bottom of Turn 2. Hutton set sail once out front in rather tricky conditions to open up the 2023 CRSA campaign. Herrick and Radivoy completed the podium on Opening Night.
“This means so much, I’ve been wanting one ever since I started racing here,” noted a jubilant Hutton in Maguire Ford of Canandaigua Victory Lane.
“I’ve been racing here since my rookie year and I’ve struggled in the past but eleventh to first is huge (for us) on Opening Night.”
Herrick had what he needed to get to the front but didn’t quite have enough to hold off the 66 car.
“We weren’t really as good as we were last weekend, I just couldn’t find the right balance of the car. I’m stoked, the best we’ve ever finished here with the tour is fifth. Congrats to Jordan and his team.”
Thomas Radivoy was as shocked as anyone- Land of Legends is as long a night as it is a drive for Radivoy to get there on race night.
“Dalton told me to go to the top and we did. Really happy with this new car we have.”
The races Powdertech Powdercoating Hard Charger of the race and an additional $25 went to Johnny Kolosek who passed thirteen cars to get to sixth. Tomy Moreau took home an extra $25 as he earned the Maguire Cars “Magnificent Move of the Race” for an incredible save from a potential spin in the second turn.
After rain cancelled the May 20 program at Thunder Mountain, the A-Verdi Storage Containers CRSA Sprints powered by Super Gen Products will now head to Weedsport Speedway on Sunday May 28. A highly anticipated show as part of the Super DIRTcar Series Heroes Remembered 100 program. It will be another series show for CRSA in 2023 that will be carried live on DIRTVision.
