Blaney Hangs on for Top 10 During All Star Season Finale to Finish Second in Standings

Inside Line Promotions – CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (Oct. 25, 2016) – Dale Blaney earned his 50th top 10 of the season last Saturday at Atomic Speedway during the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions season finale.

While he finished the final All Star race with his series-best 34th top 10, it wasn’t enough to overcome the 18-point deficit in the championship standings as the points leader ended one position better. Blaney and the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., sponsored CH Motorsports team placed second in the championship standings – only 20 points out of the title.

“It was a tough night all together because of the rain they had,” Blaney said. “Track conditions were brutal. Any time you have three reds during hot laps and one during qualifying it’s a challenging night.”

Blaney qualified 11th quickest overall and quickest in his group to start a heat race on the outside of the second row. He picked up a position to finish third, which was one spot shy of advancing into the dash.

“There wasn’t a ton of passing in the heat races,” he said. “It was hard to pass.”

That lined Blaney up on the outside of the seventh row for the main event on the tricky track.

“The chances of me running nine positions ahead of (points leader Chad Kemenah) were slim to none,” he said. “I could have destroyed my car trying to get to the front. I’ve got a little more respect for my car, my crew and my owner. We took what we could get and finished ninth. I think I got to seventh at one point. I wasn’t very good on restarts. Once we got strung out I was fine, but on restarts we struggled bad.”

Blaney ended with a ninth-place result. He is scheduled to wrap up the season this Thursday through Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., for the Bad Boy Off Road World of Outlaws World Finals with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

“There were a couple of goals we didn’t achieve,” he said. “Our first goal was to win the All Star championship. Our second goal was to win an Outlaws race. And the next goal was to win a big Outlaws race. I still have next weekend to accomplish two of my goals.”
