Helms Traveling to Port Royal This Weekend for All Star Doubleheader

Inside Line Promotions – ORRVILLE, Ohio (Sept. 7, 2016) – Caleb Helms is heading to Central Pennsylvania this weekend for the Tuscarora 50.

Helms will join the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal on Friday and Saturday for the marquee event.

“It is a big event,” he said. “I don’t think I’ve made the 50 A Main before. We want to get in there, put down a good qualifying lap the first night and give ourselves a shot to be up front and hopefully the final night we can do the same thing.

“I like going to Port Royal. Port can be good on the top and the bottom and is usually good racing. It’s fun going there. I like racing those guys there.”

Helms is coming off an All Star doubleheader in Ohio last weekend. The action began on Saturday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica for the Dirt Classic Ohio. Helms qualified 16th quickest overall and fifth in his group to miss the heat race inversion by only one spot.

“We weren’t super strong early on,” he said. “I ran a bad qualifying lap and that put us behind. I could have made it through the heat race, but wasn’t comfortable. We really dialed it in during the B Main though.”

Helms finished sixth in the heat race before winning the consolation race to transfer into the back of the main event. He then advanced from 23rd to a 13th-place result.

“We made some changes and might have gone too far,” he said. “We were able to pass a few cars and make some progress.”

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday at Wayne County Speedway, where Helms qualified 11th quickest overall and fourth in his group. He started a heat race on the pole, but was unable to finish or start the B Main.

“We broke a rear end,” he said. “We were racing for the lead and coming off turn two on the start it broke. We tried to make it out for the B Main. We were thrashing trying to get out there. I was in the car when they went green.”
