Arctic Cat All Stars will challenge Pennsylvania Posse for final time in 2016 during Tuscarora 50 weekend
INDIANAPOLIS (September 7, 2016) - Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will make one final trek into the heart of the Keystone State during the upcoming weekend, set to challenge the world-renowned Pennsylvania Posse during one of the most historic and competitive events in Central Pennsylvania; the Tuscarora 50.
Hosted in conjunction with the 162nd annual Juniata County Fair, Tuscarora 50 weekend will feature two, complete programs for the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions and Pennsylvania Posse, battling head-to-head at the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace” in Port Royal, Pennsylvania. The two-day showcase will be capped off with the 49th running of the 50-lap, Tuscarora 50 main event.
Tuscarora 50 weekend, set for Friday and Saturday, September 9-10, will ignite officially on Friday evening, September 9, with the Night Before The Tuscarora 50 preliminary program. The Night Before The Tuscarora 50 will feature a complete Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions program, awarding full points, as well as a $5,000 top prize. It will be the first Arctic Cat All Star appearance at the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace” since April 23 when Dale Blaney parked his familiar Big Game Treestands/GoMuddy.com/CH Motorsports/No.1 on the victory lane stage, earning $5,000 for capturing the inaugural Keith Kauffman Classic title.
Tuscarora 50 weekend will continue on Saturday evening, September 10, with the 49th running of the 50-lap, Tuscarora 50 main event paying a minimum of $12,000 to the winner. In addition to the five-figure payday, lap money will also be awarded, accumulated by leading laps during the 50-lap finale. The “Myerstown Missile” Brent Marks, a Pennsylvania Posse regular who has qualified for 12 Arctic Cat All Star main events in 2016, is the defending Tuscarora 50 champion, sweeping the entire Tuscarora weekend in 2015 by capturing the Night Before The Tuscarora 50 and Tuscarora 50 programs.
Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild will lead the Arctic Cat All Star stampede into Central Pennsylvania, not as the championship point leader, but as the series’ leading winner and hottest driver on tour, scoring three consecutive victories including two for a combined $20,000. Haudenschild recently picked up victories during the Inaugural Dirt Classic Ohio at Attica Raceway Park, as well as the Pete Jacobs Memorial at Wayne County Speedway. The pilot of the Southern Pacific Farms/Walker Performance Filtration/Factory Kahne/ No. 93 has earned eight victories on the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions trail thus far in 2016 and currently sits third in the championship chase, just 46 points out of the top spot.
Despite Haudenschild’s recent hot streak, defending Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions titlist Dale Blaney continues to hold down the championship lead, maintaining an eight point advantage over of fellow former series champion Chad Kemenah, and a 46 point advantage over Haudenschild. The “Low Rider” owns seven victories thus far in 2016, cashing in for 30 top-ten finishes in 38 feature starts.
Chad Kemenah will use Central Pennsylvania as an opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the championship. The Alvada, Ohio, native has only one victory on the season thus far, but an impressive run of 22 top-five finishes, leading all Arctic Cat All Star competitors in 2016.
Port Royal Speedway will use identical time tables during Tuscarora 50 weekend, opening pit gates at 4:00 pm on Friday and Saturday, September 9-10. A mandatory drivers meeting, which will be conducted during both programs, will be held at 5:45 pm, followed by hot laps at 6:30. About the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions:
All Star Enterprises, LLC, wholly owned by Tony Stewart, d/b/a the All Star Circuit of Champions, is a winged sprint car series. The All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series is one of the oldest traveling 410 sprint car organizations and is a staple of grassroots, open-wheel racing. Formed in 1970 by Bud Miller, the series has largely been considered the first 'outlaw' Sprint Car organization of the modern era. After a 10 year stint as owner of the All Stars, Miller passed control of the series to Bert Emick in 1980; a reign that would continue through 2002. Guy Webb then purchased the series from Emick in the summer of 2002 and served as the series President for the next 12 years. Motorsports entrepreneur Tony Stewart agreed to terms with Guy Webb to become the sole owner of the original winged sprint car tour in January of 2015.
