Inside Line Promotions – FINDLAY, Ohio (Aug. 30, 2016) – The feature results don’t show the speed Caleb Helms showcased last weekend during an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions doubleheader.

The action began last Saturday at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Ind., where he made his debut by qualifying ninth quickest overall and fifth in his group. He then charged from fifth to place second in a heat race to advance into the dash.

“We were too tight for qualifying,” he said. “We made a little adjustment for the heat race and it came to us. We were able to capitalize on some spots and make some moves to get up there. In the dash we got up to fifth and tried something and fell off. Our setup didn’t keep up with the track.”

Helms placed seventh in the dash to start the main event on the inside of the fourth row.

“I ran inside the top 10 for most of the race,” he said. “On the last restart I decided to change my line. I could have held on for ninth, but on that last restart I changed my line. The one place I could run was up high in the cushion. I saw other people making the bottom and middle work. I decided to try going to the middle to get around a guy and it cost me a few spots.”

Helms ended with a 12th-place result.

The weekend concluded on Sunday at Millstream Speedway, where Helms timed in fifth quickest overall and third in his group. He then won a heat race to lock into the dash, in which he advanced to a third-place finish.

“We had a really good night going,” he said. “The car was fast all night. We made an adjustment from our basic setup and it seemed to work pretty good for us. We won our heat race and finished third in the dash. (In the feature) I had a bad start and lost spots to Chad (Kemenah) and Dale (Blaney) right away. I was trying to work the bottom to get around a guy. The high side was so much faster. We had a restart and I tried to go low and lost another spot. I got back in line running sixth about 10 laps in and then the rear end broke. It was pretty frustrating to have that happen when we were running well at our home track.”

Helms was credited with a 23rd-place finish.

He will return to All Star competition this Saturday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, for the Dirt Classic Ohio and Sunday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio.
