BUMPER TO BUMPER IRA OUTLAW SPRINTS LOOK TO REBOUND FROM WASHOUT WEEKEND WITH THREE JUNE EVENTS!

June 9, 2016; Appleton, WI – Weather played a major role this past weekend as teams fought to get on the track in a pair of Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint series races. After clicking off the first seven events uninterrupted the series suffered its first rainout at Oshkosh Speedzone a couple weeks ago.

Since then the challenge has been to get a completed show. Weather has claimed three of the last four shows.

The planed races at Cedar Lake Speedway and Angell Park Speedway both fell to weather this past weekend. Oddly enough, it was exactly two years ago when the series last lost two shows in the same weekend and it involved the same two tracks.

The loss of Sunday’s Angell Park event proved especially frustrating to both teams and fans as early evening thunderstorms rolled through the area just cars were timing in for the event. Due to the amount of time it would have taken to get the track back into shape for competition and the looming curfew there was no choice but to pull the plug on the show.

Tickets and wristbands obtained for the show can be utilized at any forthcoming IRA event at Angell Park Speedway this season.

With the weather woes hopefully behind the series has three remaining contests to be held in the month of June.

It begins this Saturday June 11th at the Beaver Dam Raceway. The third-mile banked clay oval has already successfully hosted two events this season. Bill Balog charged to victory in both contests and thus far is the only multi-event winner in 2016.

The Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints will be joined by Sport Mods and Legends.

Pit gates will open at 3:30pm. While the grandstands will open one hour later to allow fans time find their favorite seat prior to the action. Racing is set to get underway at 6:30pm.

Tickets are just $20 for adults, $10 for students age 6-11 and kids 5 and younger are free. Qualifying begins at 5 p.m., with racing to follow.

Event information can be found on the Beaver Dam Raceway website at www.wismotorsports.net or by calling the track at (920) 887-1600. Beaver Dam Raceway is located on Racetrack Road just east of the intersection of Hwy 151 and 33 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

The following week the series will wrap up the June schedule with a double header weekend.

It begins with the first trip of the season to the Plymouth Dirt Track located at the Sheboygan County Fairpark in Plymouth, WI on Saturday Night June 18th. The slightly banked third-mile oval is the home track to many of the new stars of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint series.

Currently the top four in the series standings, which includes Scotty Thiel, Jeremy Schultz, Robbie Pribnow and Ben Schmidt are all graduates of the tracks weekly 360 sprint program. Pribnow and Schultz both made the transition into the 410 sprints of the IRA series having immediate success with each earning Rookie of the Year honors.

Last season Kyle Marten, another 360 sprint graduate added his name to the Rookie of the Year list. Marten currently sits 10th in points.

Additionally, Thiel, Schultz, Schmidt and Marten have already earned A-main victories in the more powerful 410 sprint series.

A look at possible at future stars on the IRA tour will be seen as the PDTR 360 sprints will also be on hand for the program. To round out the show B-Modifieds are also joining in for a full evening of dirt track racing action.

Pits will open at 3:00pm and the grandstands will open at 4:30pm.

Warm ups slated for 5:30pm, and IRA qualifying to follow.

Opening ceremonies are slated for 6:30pm. Adult tickets are just $20, children 6-12 years are $5, and kids 5 & under are FREE.

The track is located on the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds just off Fairview Drive (CTY O ) in Plymouth, Wisconsin. The track website can be found at www.plymouthdtr.com

The the following evening on Sunday June 19th the series will head back to Angell Park Speedway.

Two completed shows have been held by the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints at the track this year.

The most recent event saw current point leader Scotty Thiel outrun Parker Price Miller for the victory. The win was the second of Thiel’s career. That victory coupled with a solid second place showing at the 141 Speedway vaulted Thiel to the top of the point standings.

The Sunday, June 19th show will be featuring the Bumper-to-Bumper IRA Sprint Cars, Badger Midgets, and Micros.

Pit gates will open at 2:00pm, with spectator gates opening at 4:30pm.

Hot laps will begin at 6:00pm with qualifying and racing to follow.
