BUMPER TO BUMPER IRA OUTLAW SPRINTS VISIT FAMILIAR TERRITORY AT BEAVER DAM!
Sprints Back at Northern “Home Track” This Saturday Night!
June 6, 2013, McHenry, IL – There’s no place like home … after a busy weekend. The Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints heads to its Northern Home Track, Beaver Dam Raceway this Saturday Night June 8th. After spending last weekend in Northwestern Wisconsin presenting a pair of races, the series is back in familiar territory presenting it’s third of five scheduled events this season at the banked third-mile oval.
Beaver Dam and Wilmot Raceway are considered the series home tracks as the majority of teams are within an hour of one of those ovals making this Saturday Nights program a short haul for many of the series teams.
In the two shows held so far this season at Beaver Dam Raceway victories have been captured by defending Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint champion Bill Balog and 2012 Wilmot Raceway title holder Mike Kertscher. Balog won the season opening race at Beaver Dam back in April by a slim .009 seconds over Kertscher. Kertscher found redemption grabbing the win at the series next appearance at the track with Kertscher finishing ahead of Balog by a comfortable margin.
Heading into the show this Saturday Night, the series leading rookie also heads up the current points for the popular 410 winged sprint tour. Jeremy Schultz is the only driver this year to have completed every A-main event in the top 10 which includes a string of four consecutive third place finishes. Having amassed 807 points, Schultz is setting the pace by 46 markers over Bill Balog. In both appearances at Beaver Dam this season Schultz has turned in a third place performance.
Tommy Sexton and Scott Neitzel have worked their way into contending for a shot at the title. Sexton having climbed into third some 97 markers back has kept the pressure on in the title chase with his hard charging driving style. Neitzel meanwhile started his season with what could only be considered a “curse”. He suffered a broken suspension which caused him to veer into the wall while leading the main event during a season opener at Beaver Dam and later suffering a flip at Wilmot Raceway while he was in the lead. None the less Neitzel has rallied from outside the top twenty in points up to fourth in a few short weeks.
Russel Borland has been very consistent all season long and currently ranks fifth in the series point chase only finishing outside the top ten in a main event once so far this season.
The series loyal campaigners are expected to appear at Beaver Dam this Saturday including cousins Scott and Dave Uttech, Phillip Mock, rookie of the year contenders Lance Fassbender and Bryon Walters, Bill Wirth, Nick Alden, Wayne Modjeski, Todd King, Kris and Dennis Spitz, Michael Decker and many more. A field of 30 sprint cars are expected to participate in the show.
The event is also rumored to be the return of Mike Reinke. Considered one of the hardest charging drivers on the tour over the years Reinke has had his 2013 season debut delayed by a shortage of engine components.
The June 8th show at Beaver Dame Raceway will also include Modifieds, Legends and Street Stocks in addition to the 410 Sprints.
Pit gates will open at 3:30pm with the main gates opening at 4:30pm. Racing is set to get underway at 6:30 pm. The IRA Sprints will qualify with heats and main events to follow for all classes.
General admission is $20 for adults, with a youth ticket being sold for $10 to fans ages 6 though 11. Children ages 5 and under are admitted FREE with a paid adult.
Event information can be found on the Beaver Dam Raceway website at www.wismotorsports.net or by calling the track at (920) 887-1600. Beaver Dam Raceway is located on Racetrack Road just east of the intersection of Hwy 151 and 33 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
