Schaeffer’s Specialized Lubricants & SDM Promotions Team up in 2024.

This year at the annual PRI Show held in Indianapolis, Indiana the staff of SDM Promotions, promoters for the Delaware International Speedway and US 13 Dragway, met with Schaeffer’s Marketing Team to discuss taking our relationship to the next level. Over the past year, our sales representative Alan Bradley, CLS, who holds a Certified Lubrication Specialist designation from the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) who holds 25 years in the industry, and Mark and Denise Cathell have built not only a business relationship, but a friendship as well.

“In 2023, Alan and I worked together on some small promotions and Live Stream coverage,” states Mark Cathell, co-owner of SDM Promotions. In November, we agreed to meet at Indy to discuss how Schaeffer Oil could become the Official Oil and Lubricant company for both of our facilities.

The two groups came together and have a special announcement for all the racers and fans of Delaware’s only premier racing facility. Built in 1963 by his grandparents, Bill and Juanita Cathell, along with his father, Charles Cathell, the facility started as a 1/5th mile Dragway named US 13 Dragway. In 1965 they built a 3/8-mile oval named US 13 Speedway on the west side of the dragstrip. In 1970 his grandfather, Bill and father moved it to the east side of the Dragway where it currently sits. At the end of 2021, his father, mother, and uncle retired as the owners/operators. In 2022, Mark and his wife, Denise began SDM Promotions and 302 Motorsports Park, which continues the operation since 1963 with 3rd generation, Mark Cathell, at the helm continuing the Cathell Family legacy for years to come.

In 2024, Schaeffer’s Specialized Lubricants will become the “Official Oil & Lubricant Company” of the
302 Motorsports Park which currently houses the US 13 Dragway, Delaware International Speedway with plans to open “Full Throttle Arena” this summer. The Full Throttle Arena will host the first ever Mega Truck Obstacle Course Race, under the guidance of the promoters of Premier Mega Truck Racing Inc.
