Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (June 24, 2022) – Victory was heartfelt on Friday evening at Huset’s Speedway, where Carson Macedo executed the race-winning pass with three laps remaining to win the second round of the inaugural Huset’s High Bank Nationals presented by Billion Auto.

Eric Moser was also victorious as he won the Nordstrom’s Automotive Late Model Street Stocks main event.

Macedo capitalized on a slide job in turns one and two to pass Brian Brown for the lead on Lap 33 to garner his sixth World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series victory of the season - this one being extra special.

“I think I had a co-pilot there,” he said. “Four years ago today we lost Jason Johnson. It’s pretty incredible to win on that day. He was a pretty incredible human being to start this incredible race team with such good people. It’s quite a deal. The fact that now Philip Dietz and Brooke Dietz are carrying on that legacy and putting together a first-class operation here on the World of Outlaws tour with incredible sponsors like we have is pretty special.”

Riley Goodno led the first eight laps of the 35-lap main event before Brian Brown drove around Goodno in turns three and four following a restart on Lap 9 to take the top spot. Brown maintained the lead despite facing traffic throughout the second half of the feature before Macedo entered the picture in the closing laps.

Macedo advanced into second place on Lap 27 and then tracked down Brown before making the pass with three laps remaining. He pulled away to win by 1.046 seconds and claim the $20,000 top prize.

“In the early stage of the race I didn’t know if I was good enough to get up there and challenge for the lead,” he said. “Once I got behind Brown I actually started hustling extremely hard, driving probably past what was comfortable. I actually started going slower, just getting tighter and up into it and kinda getting messed up. I was able to calm down there, get back to his bumper and throw a big slider and get by him. I know it was a big flier, but we’re battling for the win here.”

Brown was pleased with a runner-up result after a frustrating performance on Thursday.

“We were 16th in the B (Main) last night to on the podium here tonight,” he said. “Hats go off to Danny (Lasoski). He made a lot of big changes today to my car. I kinda kept my nose out of it and let him do what he wanted to do and the (result) proved he made the right decisions. It’s just a solid night.

“I’m just proud of my whole team. I’m going to sleep a lot better tonight. We’re probably going to be still buried in the points, but at least we know we can compete.”

Goodno rounded out the podium with his career-best result with the World of Outlaws.

“It’s just a dream come true,” he said. “Too many mistakes there and it just cost me a win there probably.

“This is what me and my dad wanted to do. We wanted to just travel all over the place, and learn a lot, and try to be the best that we can be, and it’s starting to really show now.”

Spencer Bayston finished fourth and David Gravel recorded a fifth-place outing.

Macedo and James McFadden established quick time during their group’s qualifying sessions to start the night. Goodno, Matt Juhl, Jack Croaker, Paige Polyak, Carson McCarl and Marcus Dumesny each won a heat race. Brendan Mullen was victorious in the C Main and Giovanni Scelzi captured the Last Chance Showdown.

A couple of other interesting points from Friday’s feature are that Sheldon Haudenschild rallied from 25th to seventh in the feature to garner the Hard Charger Award after having to use a provisional and World of Outlaws points leader Brad Sweet rebounded from a flip on Lap 9 to rally back to an 11th-place finish.

Gravel, Macedo, Michael ‘Buddy’ Kofoid and Brock Zearfoss are the four drivers atop the event points standings after the two preliminary nights. Those four will be joined on Saturday by the four qualifier winners in the King of the Hill event, which determines the first four rows of the $100,000-to-win main event.

The gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at the track as well as online by visiting https://mpv.tickets.com/schedule/?agency=JKMV_PL_MPV&orgid=55369#/?view=list&includePackages=true.

Macedo wasn’t the only feature winner on Friday night as Moser outlasted points leader and seventh-starting Matt Steuerwald, who captured the Nordstrom’s Automotive Late Model Street Stocks feature on Thursday, to garner his first win of the season.

Steuerwald used a move to hustle from fourth into second on Lap 11, but Moser had built more than a three-second lead at that point. However, a late-race caution set up a green-white-checkered restart to bunch the field together. Moser was smooth the final two laps en route to the win by 0.462 seconds – his third career win at the track and first since 2012.

Jayke Glanzer finished third with Zach Olivier placing fourth and Ivan Olivier fifth.

Moser and Steuerwald were the heat race winners.
