Sides Focuses on Positive Following Elbows-Up Type of Night at Jason Johnson Classic

Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (March 29, 2021) – Jason Sides deems last Saturday’s outing at the Jason Johnson Classic a success.
Although Sides finished 19th in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series main event at Lake Ozark Speedway, he passed the fourth-most cars in the A Main and most importantly was able to roll the car into the trailer at the end of the night.
“That was just about getting through there because it was a motocross track and I forgot my dirt bike,” he quipped.
Sides was conservative throughout the night in which he qualified 19th quickest, placed ninth in a heat race and advanced from seventh to fifth in the Last Chance Showdown to transfer into the back of the main event. Sides tried to stay out of the way and out of the ruts during the A Main, which was shortened from 41 laps to 30 laps because of the track conditions.
“I’m not a spring chicken so I wasn’t getting up in it,” he said. “We thought about just making a couple of laps and pulling in, but then we figured some cars would crash. We added about 10 more gallons of fuel and just stayed on the bottom to get what we could.”
It capped a weekend that began with a rain out on Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway near Osborn, Mo.
Up next is a two-day show at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., this Friday and Saturday. Sides captured a World of Outlaws win at the track in 2012.
“It’s always good being able to run twice at the same track,” he said. “We’ve had some really good runs there and have won so that makes you look forward to returning.”
