Inside Line Promotions – MONROE, La. (March 16, 2021) – Last weekend was a step forward for Jason Sides, who established his season-best result during each night of a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader.

Sides finished 13th on both Friday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., and Saturday at The Rev. However, both nights could have yielded a top-10 result.

“Both nights started off good and we had decent speed in the heats,” he said. “We were good until the middle of the feature. From that point I seemed to lose a handle on the car. I have to figure out to be tighter at the end of the race. I tried to tighten it with the wing and would get too tight and it flies the front end. I need to be a little tighter in the beginning and maybe sacrifice a little there to where it’s good toward the end of the race.”

Sides overcame an 18th-place qualifying time by running from fifth to third place in a heat race on Friday at Magnolia Motor Speedway. That started him 10th for the main event. Sides gained a couple of positions early before fading during the second half of the feature.

The following night featured a similar circumstance as Sides timed in ninth quickest and ended third in a heat race to line up on the inside of the fifth row for the feature. Once again he made up ground early in the A Main, but lost a few positions in the final half of the 30-lap race.

“It makes it easier to work from that point when you can have a good start to the night,” he said. “We fell back the last two nights in the second half of the feature so we’ll focus on trying to tighten up a bit so there isn’t as much of a fall off toward the end of the race.”

Sides is heading to Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas, this Friday and Saturday for the Drydene Texas Two-Step Presented by American Lube Supply. He’s raced at the dirt oval twice in his career, posting a career-best 14th-place finish in 2018 after netting a 16th-place result in 2016.

“I haven’t been there since 2018 so being there two days will be helpful,” he said. “Whatever you do the first night, if it doesn’t work you don’t have to wait long to try something else.”
