Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (Aug. 31, 2020) – Progress was the key word for Mason Daniel last weekend during a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader.

Daniel moved forward in both main events as he made his 410ci winged sprint car debut at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., on Saturday and at I-80 Speedway on Sunday.

“We’ve been better in the main events recently and that’s a combination of me figuring it out more and the car being close to what I like,” he said. “It’s definitely a confidence boost going forward in these main events and passing a lot of good drivers.”

Daniel qualified 22nd quickest, placed eighth in a heat race and finished sixth in the Last Chance Showdown to garner the final transfer position into the A Main on Saturday at U.S. 36 Raceway.

“I think getting more comfortable at that track showed in the main event,” he said. “I’ve ran well there in a 360, but this was my first time in a 410. Getting used to that track at speed and managing the hole going into turn one was key. The more laps we did the more comfortable I got.”

That showed in the feature as Daniel advanced from 24th to 19th.

“I think I made it up to 17th, but I made a mistake late in the race and lost a couple of spots,” he said. “I got sideways on the frontstretch a bit and lost two positions on a restart.”

Daniel continued to run well on Sunday at I-80 Speedway, where he qualified 11th quickest. A sixth-place result in a heat race relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown. Daniel finished third to transfer into the last row of the main event.

“I really like that track,” he said. “We qualified well, but I made a mistake in the heat race that cost us. We got more laps in the LCS so that was helpful. We were able to transfer and moved forward in the feature. I had a good car and could go anywhere I wanted to.”

Daniel charged from 23rd to 15th, which was tied for his third-best result of the season.

Next up is a trip to Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., this Saturday and Sunday. It will mark Daniel’s debut at the high-banked oval.

“I’m excited to race there for the first time,” he said. “I’ve seen some video of races in past years and the one they just had a few weeks ago. I’m getting more comfortable on shorter tracks so I’m looking forward to racing at Huset’s.”
