Inside Line Promotions – PEVELY, Mo. (Aug. 11, 2020) – Jason Sides and Tim Kaeding will both pilot Sides Motorsports’ sprint cars this weekend at Knoxville Raceway.

The duo invades the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa, Thursday through Saturday for The One and Only and the 9th annual Brownells Capitani Classic presented by Great Southern Bank. The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event replaces the famed Knoxville Nationals – the sport’s biggest event and one in which Kaeding has earned a top five for Sides Motorsports each of the last two years.

“We both help each other,” Sides said. “He’s helped me a ton trying to get around that place. He feels like he’s at home in that car and it’s shown the last couple of years.”

Sides is coming off a premier World of Outlaws event last weekend when the series visited Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 for the Ironman 55.

“We got into a crash, which was my fault, the first night,” he said. “We were really good in turns one and two through the middle. I tried the same thing through turns three and four and it didn’t work. When I spun I collected Daryn Pittman. It tore up his car and mine. At the other end of the track the bottom had been throwing some of the wet mud through the middle. I got in there too hard in turns three and four and we were a little free to be running up there. Daryn was committed to running that same line as I was and when I spun he had nowhere to go.”

Sides had qualified 14th quickest, advanced a position to finish fourth in a heat race and was running inside the top 10 in the main event when the incident occurred. He restarted at the back of the pack and rallied his damaged race car to an 18th-place result.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at the high-banked oval, where Sides timed in 17th quickest. He placed sixth in a heat race and won the Last Chance Showdown to transfer into the back of the A Main. Sides gained five positions – tied for the most – before finishing 16th in the feature.

“We were pretty decent, but it stayed so good around the bottom,” he said. “We got by a few cars here and there, but it was so equal for everyone that it was hard to pass.”
