Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 16, 2020) – Brian Brown recorded his fourth top 10 of the season with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series last Saturday during the finale of the Brownells Big Guns Bash hosted by Knoxville Raceway.

June 12 – Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa – Qualifying: 6; Heat race: 4 (3); Feature: 15 (15).

“I felt like we were okay,” Brown said. “We didn’t qualify as well as we wanted and that got us a little behind. In the heat race I didn’t get going as good as we needed to and ran fourth. It’s not too often we get to experiment at Knoxville. Since we were starting so far back we wanted to use the feature as a test session. I made my car too free in the wrong areas. We know what not to do at this point. We knew what we needed to do for Night 2.”

June 13 – Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa – Qualifying: 7; Heat race: 2 (4); Dash: 6 (8); Feature: 6 (6).

“The track had slowed down quite a bit when we went out to qualify and I was actually concerned,” Brown said. “We were able to outqualify the cars around us by quite a bit and go seventh quick. In the heat we had a really good battle to get into a dash spot. Unfortunately, we drew the worst position to start last in the dash. I got to fifth and gave (Kyle) Larson too much room. He took advantage of it and we ended up sixth. We knew going into the feature we had a pretty good car. We got to fourth and then to third. We had a double-file restart and I was able to get the lead. I felt like we were going to have a good shot to win. We got racing with Larson and Brad (Sweet). We got sliding around quite a bit. I’m not sure if we sealed our tires. We went from driving good to hanging on the next lap. My tires were spinning more. Sometimes you don’t carry the speed and then you get tight. Even when I was third I didn’t feel that great. Usually in that situation as hard as we used our tires they’d be red hot when you come into the pits. They just weren’t warm. It’s like we sealed the tires up. You don’t want to make excuses, but if we were going to pinpoint it I think that’s got to be it.

“At times I felt like we had the fastest car on the track so that’s exciting. I think we have a lot of good notes that will help us the next couple of months.”

UP NEXT – Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa

“Last week is a good guide for us to see where we are,” Brown said. “We have to get better. You’re not going to compete to win the Knoxville Nationals if you don’t work on your car. That’s exciting to be able to have a rabbit in front of you.”
