Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (Oct. 22, 2019) – Kraig Kinser posted a pair of top-10 outings last weekend during World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series competition.

“We like moving forward and we’ll take two solid top 10s,” he said. “We’ve definitely got some momentum. We want to finish the season strong.”

The action began on Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown. Kinser qualified 19th quickest and he finished sixth in a heat race, which relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown. He won the race to garner a transfer into the main event, in which he maneuvered from 21st to 10th.

“We’re working on getting faster,” he said. “The track slowed down a bit to help our handling. We knew we were going to start toward the back so we kept working to try to find something for the feature. I think we had more progress to go so we were fortunate to get into the top 10. That was a positive leaving there.”

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway during the Jason Johnson Classic presented by FK Rod Ends. Kinser timed in second quickest, narrowly earning a new track record. A runner-up result in a heat race and a fifth-place finish in the dash lined him up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

“When qualifying up front you want to translate that into dashes,” he said. “That’s what this is about is making the dashes. Your odds start falling in your favor when you can start up front. We need to make the dashes. The track was real fast. It was pretty racy, but narrow. I had to get off the gas in the dash and got passed. That was the tale of our feature. We were a little too tight to be making the moves we needed to on the restarts. I had a pretty good car and better than some of the cars in front of us. Our biggest deal was we were too tight on restarts.”

Kinser placed seventh, which was his 27th top 10 of the season.

The next World of Outlaws event is this Friday and Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., for the Nittany Showdown.

“I like getting to the half-mile tracks,” he said. “You want to unload quick and not make too many adjustments.”
