Inside Line Promotions – MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (July 31, 2019) – Kraig Kinser is aiming to build momentum with the Knoxville Nationals right around the corner.
Kinser heads to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., this Friday and Saturday for the Ironman 55. It’s the final World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series before the biggest event of the season the following weekend.
“I’ve had good experiences and bad experiences in Pevely, but it’s always fun,” he said. “It has tight, close racing. I’ve enjoyed going there. It’s important to get qualified well and not put yourself behind from the beginning.”
Kinser is coming off a three-race week in Pennsylvania, which began a week ago Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup. He qualified 13th quickest in his group before hustling from seventh to fifth place in a heat race. That locked him into the 18th starting position for the A Main.
Kinser capped the night with a 15th-place finish.
He then ventured to Williams Grove Speedway for the Champion Racing Oil Summer Nationals. Unfortunately, qualifying got the team behind both nights. Kinser was able to make the main event on Friday when he finished 21st.
“We struggled to get qualified all week,” he said. “It was one of those weeks you almost forget about. We were just off all week. Qualifying puts you in the back of heat races and ultimately puts you in the back of the feature. It’s an area of emphasis.”
