Sides Ready to Invade Brown County and Cedar Lake This Week

Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (July 2, 2019) – Jason Sides is looking forward to returning to Brown County Speedway this Wednesday for the Star Spangled Showdown, which kicks off a tripleheader week for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
Sides set a new track record, won a heat race and captured a fifth-place finish during his debut at the track in Aberdeen, S.D., in June 2016.
“We’re excited to get back to Brown County, where we were really good three years ago,” he said. “You always look forward to going to tracks where you’ve run well, especially when it’s been a couple of years since you’ve raced there.”
Sides will wrap up the week by competing on Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown.
“It’s a nice track and we’ve had some decent runs there,” he said. “The key will be to qualify well.”
Sides qualified mid-pack during the two preliminary nights of the 41st annual AGCO Jackson Nationals last weekend at Jackson Motorplex. That started him in the middle of a heat race and he finished fifth on Thursday and sixth on Friday.
“So much of your success depends on qualifying,” he said. “The heat races were too wet and fast to move forward. We lost a spot on Friday so we had to come out of the Last Chance Showdown, which we won.”
Sides placed 20th in the feature on Thursday and 23rd on Friday. He lined up fifth in a heat race to open Saturday’s finale.
“The track was a little more racy and were able to get up to third,” he said. “We had an opportunity to get second, but James McFadden did well running the bottom. In the feature the track didn’t rubber up as quick as we expected. We put on hard tires and felt like a spinning duck for 20 laps. Then it laid rubber and we felt good, but by then it was too late.”
Sides ended the event 19th in Saturday’s A Main.
