Inside Line Promotions – PERRIS, Calif. (April 2, 2019) – Jason Sides is bound for the desert to wrap up the first western swing of the season for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

Sides and ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ will visit USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz., on Friday during the Wildcat Shootout and Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz., on Saturday during the Arizona Desert Shootout.

“We haven’t been to Tucson in a couple of years so we’re looking forward to getting back there,” he said. “The track in Queen Creek has gotten better the last couple of years and they’ve got a handle on it. You can run around the top or the bottom.”

Sides won a dash and finished a career-best fourth at USA Raceway in 2007 and he scored his career-best run of fifth place during the 2017 event at Arizona Speedway.

Sides competed in California last weekend during a World of Outlaws doubleheader. The action began on Friday at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, where Sides qualified 14th quickest and advanced from fourth to third in a heat race to lock into the 10th starting position for the main event.

“We were really good early,” he said. “The next thing I know it was like a light switch. I was running the top and they started passing me on the bottom. I went to the bottom and couldn’t hold it down there. Even when I went back to the top I had no traction and started fading toward the back.”

The night was also the final race of the swing for teammate Tim Kaeding, who qualified 12th quickest, placed sixth in a heat, won the Last Chance Showdown and rallied from 21st to 16th in the A Main.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway during the SoCal Showdown. Sides qualified 18th quickest. A seventh-place run in a heat race and fifth-place finish in the Last Chance Showdown locked him into the final row of the main event. He gained a handful of positions to finish 19th.

“We passed a few cars and then on one of the restarts everyone bottled up in turn one,” he said. “I was going faster than I thought and had to pitch it sideways to keep from running over someone. I had to restart last and then made my way up to 19th before the rubber came in.”
